Guest justinhalsall Posted January 29, 2005 Report Posted January 29, 2005 Select Infra Red and it will look for BT devices too <{POST_SNAPBACK}> thnx I'll try that!
Guest alanweston Posted January 30, 2005 Report Posted January 30, 2005 Hey does anyone know how to send files with the c500 to other mobiles? It doesn't say send via bluetooth in the file manager, only send via email and infrared... Anyone know? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> if you download smartexplorer of this website(see downloads on homepage) it includes a facility to "send file by ir/bt" this will allow you to send files via bt (if set up properly!)
Guest andysthorne Posted February 3, 2005 Report Posted February 3, 2005 Select Infra Red and it will look for BT devices too <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Does this work for sending contacts via bluetooth as well, cos I don't seem to has this option available. (I want to send contacts to my bluetooth car kit) many thanks
Guest willieturnip Posted February 3, 2005 Report Posted February 3, 2005 yer it does...just find the contact...and off it goes..lol
Guest mike_freegan Posted February 7, 2005 Report Posted February 7, 2005 yer it does...just find the contact...and off it goes..lol <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Mine will find other devices when I use BT to send a contact, but if I use the file explorer to try and send anything else it won't find anything, even paired devices. It just remains on "searching" status. The baclight also turns off after a while which suggests its not actually searching. Walked across the classroom today and tried it on my friend's c500 and his has the same problem. Searching for devices works for contacts and bonding but not for sending files. Any ideas? My handset is brand new and set to discoverable. It can receive files. I miss my SE P800  Please help as I have just bought a Bluetooth chip for my laptop. It took ages to install it.
Guest epc500 Posted February 7, 2005 Report Posted February 7, 2005 :?: Does anyone know if the Smartexplorer software really works? I can't believe that this phone won't let me send a video clip via bluetooth.
Guest squall Posted February 7, 2005 Report Posted February 7, 2005 smart explorer is very powerful and should work.
Guest stretchie Posted February 7, 2005 Report Posted February 7, 2005 :?: Does anyone know if the Smartexplorer software really works? I can't believe that this phone won't let me send a video clip via bluetooth. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yep, SmartExplorer will work alright. I do it all the time at work to PC's and now, (THANK GOD) other people have got these phones after playing with mine.. (phone that is...), I send them to other phones too. The only problem I can see you having is sending clips via MMS. (See below) What version of OS software do you have on your phone. Is it new?? Go to Start > Accessories > Task Manager When you are in this press Menu > 6 System Info And scroll down to the bottom to where it has device information. The new software is V 4.21, if you have something below that, as far as I am aware, this maybe why you cannot send video clip via MMS as this ROM upgrade (V 4.21) allows you to do this. You download the upgrade from this website, just do a search for 'ROM upgrade'
Guest epc500 Posted February 8, 2005 Report Posted February 8, 2005 Thanks for that. I'm on V4.21, but not too sure exactly how to download this software. (I presume I have to use the ActiveSync function???) I really am crap at this stuff. Is it easy? And is this software the same as binary's? (I think that's what its called)
Guest mike_freegan Posted February 8, 2005 Report Posted February 8, 2005 Smartexplorer definately works! Still, I would expect the microsoft explorer supplied with the phone to work. Does the Microsoft standard explorer work for anyone when sending bluetooth? -Mike (ps. getting used to windows instead of symbian now)
Guest Disco Stu Posted February 8, 2005 Report Posted February 8, 2005 Yes, if you choose 'Send by IR' it will look for BT devices as well. While I'm here, kindly go easy on the text formatting. I'm old and my eyes are tired and sore
Guest TigerNet Posted February 8, 2005 Report Posted February 8, 2005 @Disco Stu...could I suggest choosing one of these threads on sending via bluetooth and making it a 'pinned' topic...the question seems to come up pretty frequently... Cheers Nick
Guest Disco Stu Posted February 8, 2005 Report Posted February 8, 2005 Good suggestion. Should have done so ages ago.
Guest TigerNet Posted February 8, 2005 Report Posted February 8, 2005 ...noticed the new quick links thread...good idea!!! Could I suggest that the Mods keep it to links only and avoid chatter in the thread/restrict access to keep it nice and 'clean'... Cheers Nick

I get to the point where it says "searching" and nothing happens. It never finds anything. Even though I am paired with another phone. Come to think of it even if I'm not paired, it still just keeps on searching. I've tried sending to Nokia's and the latest Sony. Nothing nothing nothing. Very frustrating

Very frustrating <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Sorry about the nasty formatting but I really needed a straight answer which I still haven't got! It's not that I don't know HOW to do it, its just this crappy phone won't do it! I have the same problem as epc500. It just gets stuck on "searching" but doesn't find any bluetooth devices. I also use v 4.21 What I am trying to establish is: Does bluetooth file send work on ANYONE'S handset as standard. I don't want to know how it should work, or to be told to download any other file exploring programs. I just want to know if the bluetooth send feature in the STANDARD file manager works on anyone's C500. Then I can take it back and claim that it's broken as the people in the orange shop are thick and easily tricked. Then I can get my money back and get a good smartphone. -Mike
Guest epc500 Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 I've just put SmartExplorere on the phone and it works well. I had to try several times to send to a Sony phone, otherwise it's fine. Thanks for all your advice.
Guest straightliner2000 Posted February 18, 2005 Report Posted February 18, 2005 Maybe I am being stupid here but I have installed Smart Explorer and still there is no way of sending via bluetooth. Can someone please give me a walkthrough on setting this up and using it as I am now not sleeping at nights
Guest Disco Stu Posted February 18, 2005 Report Posted February 18, 2005 I'm no expert, but see the Quick Links topic pinned at the top of this section. You need the latest version of Smart Explorer too - seee www.binarys.com
Guest superfinn Posted May 8, 2005 Report Posted May 8, 2005 does any1 know where i can get a spv c500 on pay as you go cheap or free?? mine broke and the guarantee ran out! need phone now! lol
Guest nastassja Posted March 1, 2006 Report Posted March 1, 2006 if you want to send files over the bluetooth with the standard explorer, you have to first turn bluetooth ON, and then beam the file.. if you don't turn bluetooth on it just looks for irda devices. i know, it sux.. but don't blame me :)
