Guest flump Posted January 30, 2005 Report Posted January 30, 2005 Anyone know what type of external antenna connector the C500 uses ? (The aerial connector on the back that is) I want to install a external antenna in the car as I live in the sticks and coverage aint always the best. It looks like most car antenna's come with a FME connector so I'll need an adaptor. I've found someone who sells them (see below) but they don't list the C500. Can anyone tell me which other phones use the same connector ? As usaual there doesn't seem to be a standard type. http://www.redlinemobile.com/acatalog/redl...ntennas_54.html
Guest flump Posted February 1, 2005 Report Posted February 1, 2005 Just to update, I asked if any adapters they sold were compatable and here's their reply. "Thank you for your enquiry, unfortunately there is currently no adaptor available for your handset. Best Regards Colin James RedLine Communications" Not the answer I was hoping for. :D Has HTC really used a totally proprietary connector for their external antenna? I've checked a few other makes so far with no luck. If anyone’s got another type of phone with an external aerial connector could they check if it looks the same as the C500 and update this post. So far I've checked Nokia 6210 = NO Nokia 6310i = NO SPV E200 = YES Anyone know what type of external antenna connector the C500 uses ? Guest smeg36 Posted February 1, 2005 Report Posted February 1, 2005 The Motorola T720 and compatable series connectors work with my Audiovox SMT5600, which should be the same as the C500's. It also fits my wifes LG VG3200, so theirs should be compatable.
Guest flump Posted February 2, 2005 Report Posted February 2, 2005 Thanks for the update, now I've just got to find somebody this side of the pond that sells em. A good few hours of surfing this evening with no joy. The Motorola T720 and compatable series connectors work with my Audiovox SMT5600, which should be the same as the C500's. Guest flump Posted February 25, 2005 Report Posted February 25, 2005 (edited) Finally tracked one down A company called Wilson Electronics Supplies one. Part # 359909 I couldn't find a company in the UK that supplies it, but WPSantennans in the US do. I bought one a couple of weeks back, cost $22 dollars inc priority shipping. Took about 10 days to arrive. http://www.wpsantennas.com/index.asp?PageA...PROD&ProdID=122 The Shipping is $12 US Dollars via Global priority mail. Or the other option is Airmail letter post $ 6.95 US Dollars. Fits the E200 Perfectly, its slightly loose on the C500 as the depth of the adapter hole is a little shorter on this phone. Its not a problem though, The connection is still good and it has a velcro adapter, which when used holds it very solidly. Comes with an FME adapter on the other end of the cable which will allow it to connect your phone directly to the majority of Car Phone External Antennas. I'm using it with a tax disc aerial to great effect. Has significantly cut down on the amount of dropped calls.
