Guest alfi99 Posted January 30, 2005 Report Posted January 30, 2005 This program will not install on the C500. http://www.birdsoft.biz/pokersnitch.htm I think it is because of the processor, but maybe some of you expert can clarify it more? Thanks :D /nick
Guest squall Posted January 30, 2005 Report Posted January 30, 2005 that application wont run as its designed for the ppc, not the smartphone the processor is 200MHz OMAP 730
Guest ga!nusha Posted January 30, 2005 Report Posted January 30, 2005 indeed it's 200MHz but it actually works at ~170MHz
Guest hasley Posted January 30, 2005 Report Posted January 30, 2005 indeed it's 200MHz but it actually works at ~170MHz <{POST_SNAPBACK}> 170? why? Is possible to set it to 200mhz? (battery... memory..)
Guest Confused Stu Posted January 30, 2005 Report Posted January 30, 2005 Much as it pains me to admit it, but even Betaplayer lists the processor as a clock speed of 172MHz. Seeing as nobody ever managed to successfully over-clock the original SPV (and boy, did that little guy need it!) I can't see anyone managing it with it's big brother. That said, I've never found the C500 lacking in speed - it even runs full screen films in amazing quality - so I would question how much of a problem this is. Sure, we'd all like the 250bhp Alfa GTA but when you're only using it to drop the kids at school and get to work, do you really need it? Why is it we've got an approx. 170MHz processor listed as a 200Mhz? My guess is like motorbike horsepower figures - they quote the amount at the crank and not the amount transfered to the road through the tyre. I think it's probably a case of they've quoted the speed without taking off the amount needed to run the processor, any other essential hardware, and the fact it's a mass-produced model, rather than a fully factory prepared prototype. Guys, it's still the quickest, most impressive piece of portable hardware available (IMHO!) so don't nit-pick over numbers - just rejoice that we can own such a piece of HISTORY!! :D/
Guest ga!nusha Posted January 31, 2005 Report Posted January 31, 2005 @confused stu u r  m8... iwas just pointing it out...i don't need more than 170...once i got 176 though... :D i think i need to take my kids to school with a GTA (but i ain't got none no kids no gta  ) :D
Guest ga!nusha Posted January 31, 2005 Report Posted January 31, 2005 i'm crying for the GTA not for kids =p~
Guest Confused Stu Posted January 31, 2005 Report Posted January 31, 2005 Trust me - the GTA is too much for everyday use. I test drove the 2.0L 147 and it was pretty quick! :D The salesman tried to get me to try the 140bhp diesel. I told him several times I hate diesels (bad experience with a 306 XRDT) :frown: but he insisted. We got round the corner, he floored it at tickover - I shot backwards in the seat! Looking afterwards, it makes more torque at 2000rpm than the GTA does anywhere! I've been the proud owner of an Alfa 147 JTD Multijet for over six months, and have never looked back. :cheesy: So much nicer than my last car (Daewoo Nubira that was so boring I had to fit a PS2 and screens to make it bearable!). 8-[
Guest Confused Stu Posted January 31, 2005 Report Posted January 31, 2005 I fear I may be straying a little off topic here! Anyone got anything else constructive to say about the C500's processor?
Guest ga!nusha Posted January 31, 2005 Report Posted January 31, 2005 :D i can add somthin': it's a preety small little thing nubira??? guess you're from europe...the eastern one....
Guest Chaser81 Posted February 1, 2005 Report Posted February 1, 2005 You know its going to get harder for people not familiar with the Smartphone and PPC operating systems to tell the different versions of software apart now that Microsoft is intent on calling EVERYTHING Windows Mobile!
