Guest misa.dlouhy Posted January 30, 2005 Report Posted January 30, 2005 (edited) Hello, i've searched ModaCo and found out, that it can take from few hours to few days to discharge the battery of SPV C500 when it's on, depending on how much you use the phone, but i haven't found information, how long can the phone (with its battery charged to 100%) stay OFF and still be able to be used. I would like to take the phone for a trip, where is no possibility to charge it (or where is just a little chance, that you will find electricity source) and use it just for sms (maybe MMS -> Camera - picture - send) messaging. How long can the phone stay without being turned ON and plugged in the cradle, so that its battery will not be discharged totally and there will not be danger of losing my data? Can i use for charging Smartphone one of these small manually operated chargers (that you can see f.e. on this czech website: http://www.mobilmania.cz/Mobilnitelefony/AR.asp?ARI=106970 ) and keep it fit for sending sms message while outside and prevent it from data lost? I plan three months trip in India so i would like to have the phone with myself. In the case that itis not possible to take Smartphone on such a long trips (switched OFF) with uncertainty of finding electrical source (car lighter, outlet), can i leave the phone ON the charger for 2-3 months (with surge protector) and be sure, that the phone (and my flat also) is safe? Thanks for advice, love you Michal +++ On another czech site ( http://www.mobilmania.cz/Zpravy/AR.asp?ARI=108265 ) i have found information about solar charger (just 311g and 184 x 114 x 32 mm!), you can buy it here ( http://21st-century-goods.com/page/21st/PROD/iSunSil ) for $69. There are other solar chargers and (9V, AAA) battery-powered chargers available too. So these are the choices, but will they work with SPV C500' USB cable? Edited January 30, 2005 by misa.dlouhy
Guest squall Posted January 30, 2005 Report Posted January 30, 2005 when the phone is switched off the charge will stay in the batterys for more than 3 months.... The hand chargers are not very effective, but would be useful for you. You would have hours of fun charging before a call though
Guest squall Posted January 30, 2005 Report Posted January 30, 2005 oh and the solar panel could work, but you may need to modify it a bit for current / voltage rating etc
Guest misa.dlouhy Posted January 30, 2005 Report Posted January 30, 2005 Thanks much. It's nice to know, that the phone will survive 3 months switched off. Then i can just find energy source and use it.
