Guest iAMDw Posted January 30, 2005 Report Posted January 30, 2005 After Installing the great Mind & Soul Theme my phone does not charge anymore. The Activesync Stuff works fine but it just does not want to charge the battery. ...Wanna hear the best part? The $#@# Mind & Soul cannot be UN-Installed. I tried on the phone, ( "Do you want to remove Mind & Soul ?" ) YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And like magic: NOTHING HAPPENS!!!!!! Even tried using ActineSync AND the original setup files. Please Help.
Guest squall Posted January 30, 2005 Report Posted January 30, 2005 Can you still charge via the mains charger? The charging is a hardware matter and has no reliance on software so perhaps this is just a coinsidence
Guest tomrf Posted January 31, 2005 Report Posted January 31, 2005 try power off your phone, remove battery for a few second untill 1 minute, put you battery back, plug your charger. see on external lcd, is it show charging proses or not. I've get same problem a month ago. Now, my MPX200 working fine with wm2003 without MMS.
Guest iAMDw Posted February 2, 2005 Report Posted February 2, 2005 Thanks for the input guys, I removed the battery, tried a friends battery, tried the USB cable, tried another mains charger, etc... ...NOTHING!!! Will be sending the #@#%* thing back tomorrow. ( Another 4 weeks without my phone  !!!) Oh how I miss my reliable old Nokia 6110i...
Guest Wexx Posted February 2, 2005 Report Posted February 2, 2005 (edited) For everyone else having the same problem. Try hard reset. I've had a problem with charging with USB cable after playing with registry (but not with anything relevant to that) and the only thing that could solved it was a hard reset. You'll lose all programs, but it will solve the problem. Edited February 2, 2005 by Wexx
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted February 2, 2005 Report Posted February 2, 2005 but it will solve the problem. Unless you have blown the internal fuse. If that happens then you need to take the phone apart and be very good at soldering. Also you need to try and get the surface mount fuse as well.
Guest iAMDw Posted February 3, 2005 Report Posted February 3, 2005 ...NOPE, Hard Reset only wiped all my progz and settings. Phone still won't charge. Think awarner may have a point there about a Fuse or something Hardware related. Thanx anyway...
Guest KriTip Posted February 3, 2005 Report Posted February 3, 2005 Funny coincidence. I haven't been here for ages, but my dads phone just stopped charging today and being a level 3 nokia repair technician, i decided to try and fix the problem myself. As said, it will be a hardware fault, or will need an and energy managment calibration performed at a high level service center. I disassembled my dads, located the fuse, and as a temporary measure, ran a thin bridge of wire across the top of the fuse. I knew it was blown as i compared it with my mpx200 which i also took apart. It now charges ok, but i guess i'll need to find a small surface mount fuse from somewhere!! :D If you wan't to know where the fuse is, just give me a shout. Otherwise, if its under warrenty, take it back. Cheers, KriTip
Guest shaggyguitarist Posted February 8, 2005 Report Posted February 8, 2005 My mpx was on 1 bar of power last monday, i plugged it in the mains then had to make a couple of calls, while it was still in the charger. I then noticed it wasnt charging when i plugged it into my pc, and thought my usb had a problem..But no it turns out that my mpx wont charge. I did a orange backup, then hard reset, with what power was left, hoping that would cure it, but no luck. Now it only gets as far as the smartphone 2002 screen and dies. I needed a phone, and as i was due an upgrade, I just upgraded to SPV c500, did a backup restore and am back online again. The annoying thing is that It stopped working just 28 days over the manufacturers warranty  Do you think it just need a new battery (£40) or could I get it fixed. I tried several motorolla repair lines, only to get no answer. I'd really like to have my mpx back up and running again, so I can possibly sell it and all the accessories I have for it. Also, the charger for my c500 has the same mini-usb connector, but is it a different voltage or somrthing, cos my old car charger wont charge my c500.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted February 8, 2005 Report Posted February 8, 2005 The C500 needs a special miniusb car charger or you can convert your existing charger by soldering two pins together. basically the C500 needs a signal to start the charge cycle. I now use the car charger from the modaco shop for my C500.
