HELP! Damaged my screen on my MPX200

Ok ok i screwed up. I have a MPX200 and I was having a grand old day hiking when i slipped and fell into a pool of water and completely submerged myself with my phone. The phone was underwater for maybe 5 seconds due to my lightning-quick response time. The phone was working fine until a couple hours later I checked the phone and now the screen doesn't show anything. The backlight still works, the phone functions still work (I know this because i can make and receive calls) but the screen itself is blank and black and I can't see anything. Now, what are my options? Is this an easy fix? What exactly is broken, if the phone functions and the backlight works? Also, I never thought this would come back to slap me in the face but I upgraded to windows mobile 2003 so I think any warranty's or such are voided. PLEASE HELP!!! If anyone has any alternatives to me having to purchase a new phone, please suggest it!

THank you very very much!

Did you leave the phone turned off with the battery removed for a few days while the phone was drying out?

If you allow the phone to dry out it may recover.

Well when I pulled the phone from out of the water everything was still on! Shaking it while on the hike was the best thing I could think of at the time, and it never turned off when it went underwater, so I figured everything was fine and it wasn't in the water long enough. I guess over hours the water has been seeping in or something. After I realized that things were in fact going bad on my phone, maybe 3 or 4 hours of it being powered on right after water exposure, I finally turned it off. So now I have the battery out and it is drying for a few days, hopefully that will make some magic happen and it will work again?
