Guest ManImCool Posted January 31, 2005 Report Posted January 31, 2005 Ok ok i screwed up. I have a MPX200 and I was having a grand old day hiking when i slipped and fell into a pool of water and completely submerged myself with my phone. The phone was underwater for maybe 5 seconds due to my lightning-quick response time. The phone was working fine until a couple hours later I checked the phone and now the screen doesn't show anything. The backlight still works, the phone functions still work (I know this because i can make and receive calls) but the screen itself is blank and black and I can't see anything. Now, what are my options? Is this an easy fix? What exactly is broken, if the phone functions and the backlight works? Also, I never thought this would come back to slap me in the face but I upgraded to windows mobile 2003 so I think any warranty's or such are voided. PLEASE HELP!!! If anyone has any alternatives to me having to purchase a new phone, please suggest it! THank you very very much!
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted January 31, 2005 Report Posted January 31, 2005 Did you leave the phone turned off with the battery removed for a few days while the phone was drying out? If you allow the phone to dry out it may recover.
Guest ManImCool Posted January 31, 2005 Report Posted January 31, 2005 Well when I pulled the phone from out of the water everything was still on! Shaking it while on the hike was the best thing I could think of at the time, and it never turned off when it went underwater, so I figured everything was fine and it wasn't in the water long enough. I guess over hours the water has been seeping in or something. After I realized that things were in fact going bad on my phone, maybe 3 or 4 hours of it being powered on right after water exposure, I finally turned it off. So now I have the battery out and it is drying for a few days, hopefully that will make some magic happen and it will work again?
