I have (some how) got an extra shortcut icon on my SPV C500 Windows home screen. I have all the normal ones, like Messages, Call History. Ect but this one does not open anything. I just get a shortcut target error message when I click on it. How do I remove it, I have tried to find the shortcuts useing Active sync but no luck and turning the phone on and off did not remove it.

after connecting phone to the pc use windows explorer to goto mobile device/my smartphone/storage/windows/start menu then delete the icons you need to.

You may not be able to delete system icons such as msn

I tried that. All i got in the wnidows\start menu are Accessories & configurations, both of which seem to be emtpy, northing shows up on the pc when I select them. I want to delete this unwanted icon at the top of the home screen.

DSF.

If you read my post 'fully', you will see that I've tried that, indeed, it gets switched off ery everning and back on in the morning, but that icon is still sitting there, maybe a hard reset is the only answer

Maybe it works with a settings reset??

I would prefer not to have to do that as I think resetting would result in me lossing all the stuff I put on the phone like ringtones, games And apps. Really don't want to have to download everything again. there must be another way?.

maybe you need to use the folder options to show hidden or system files?

I could not find any file or folder that looked like it was to do with shortcuts, so, i've saved all my tones, games and apps to my pc and am going to reset the phone as this seems to be the only option left. I'm hopeing this will remove the unwanted icon and I can then get all the stuff I saved back on the phone again.

You can do it from your phone if you have Smart Explorer. Just navigate to IPSM/Windows/Start Menu. Note that there are two Windows folders the one inside the IPSM is the one you want, the one outside is ROM and unalterable. Once you're there, you can delete or add what you want.
