Guest sixman9 Posted January 31, 2005 Report Posted January 31, 2005 Hi Folks, 1st post :D . I've just moved up to the c500 from an Ericsson T610 (awesome phone btw) and I'm a little miffed by the c500. Basically, I'd like to be able to select the days of the week my alarm goes off, mainly because I don't need it to go off at 7am Saturday and Sunday. This was a standard feature on the T610 (and the other Ericssons I had before this). I'm guessing this feature is either a software add on or a 'work around' say like setting up mulitple appointments for ever. Any ideas? Thanks Big Rich
Guest scott2eyes Posted January 31, 2005 Report Posted January 31, 2005 I would say that the best bet is to make a recurring appointment in Outlook on your PC, then sync it with the phone. The actual "alarm" (under the "clock" settings) on MS Smartphones is pretty useless- any time I need a reminder for something, I set it in Outlook.
Guest jporch316 Posted February 1, 2005 Report Posted February 1, 2005 Sunnysoft alarm on Handango - used to have it on my mpx200. you can pick days of the week - but you only hav a choice of system sounds. Also not sure if it works on wm2003 as i had 2002 on mpx. Also comes bundled with battleship and stopwatch. I thinkit was about £8.
Guest fozzie Posted February 2, 2005 Report Posted February 2, 2005 Give CityTime Alarms a try from these guys: http://codecity.net/index.html Highly recommended :D
Guest Reboot Posted February 2, 2005 Report Posted February 2, 2005 Give CityTime Alarms a try from these guys: http://codecity.net/index.html Highly recommended :D <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I've bought City Alarms on Handango after the trail and it works perfectly! You can choose the set an alarm recurring for 7 day, work days, weekends etc!
Guest phrozenpenguin Posted February 2, 2005 Report Posted February 2, 2005 I had the same problem; the t610 setup is ideal (and free) I tried citytime alrams and it worked great, but i was too tight to splash out the $10 :/ I havent found an alternative.

And how much did the phone cost you? The alarm functions couldn't have been that important to you as you've yet to find an alternative. FWIW, I'd say CityTime Alarms is well worth the money.
Guest tudor Posted February 2, 2005 Report Posted February 2, 2005 I use Fizz Traveller 2 (http://www.fizzsoftware.com/smartphone/fiz...eller/index.htm). For $20 you get fully-customizable alarms, weather updates, currency conversion with updates and lots of other stuff. No subscription needed and you can use the pass-through connection to avoid GPRS costs. And you get also a nice home screen plugin with the weather forecast :D I highly recommend this program - it's definitely worth the money!
Guest CXM Posted February 2, 2005 Report Posted February 2, 2005 Can any alarm clock software open a locked phone. I don't want to open my phone lock first to shut down the alarm. I have tried some of them but the phone was locked when the alarm came up. :x
Guest fozzie Posted February 2, 2005 Report Posted February 2, 2005 Not that I've found. The author of CTA was having a look to see if something could be done. Fingers crossed.
Guest sixman9 Posted February 3, 2005 Report Posted February 3, 2005 Thank you very much for all this alarm info!!! My next question is, does any off this alarm software work with the SPV switched off (i.e. will it ring/switch the phone back on)? Thanks Big Rich
Guest fozzie Posted February 3, 2005 Report Posted February 3, 2005 (edited) No, none do, or ever will; that's down to the OS. Edited February 3, 2005 by fozzie
Guest sixman9 Posted February 4, 2005 Report Posted February 4, 2005 No, none do, or ever will; that's down to the OS. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I kind of suspected that, but hoped it wasn't the case. Even in this 3rd generation of the SPV, it seems that Microsoft is still Beta testing their phone OS'es on us  MS needs to buy a couple of Sony Ericsson and Nokia phones (T610, P910 etc) and spend a week or 2 using them, If they really want to dominate this market. The multimedia capabilities of Windows Mobile are pretty impressive, especially when 3rd party software is taken into account, but basic phone functionility is sorely lacking (Alarm functions, No fancy SMS animations etc, etc.). The menus are also a little archaic, the button usage, at times seems sloppy. The T610 seems to offer you exactly the functions you need and these are accessible by using the number pad, even if no menu number is listed, unlike smartphone. I apologise if I'm standing on any toes, but that's how I see it at the moment :( . Over time, the expansion capabilities of my MS Mobile might grow on me
Guest jporch316 Posted February 5, 2005 Report Posted February 5, 2005 Going back to alarms - head to www.coolsmartphone.com - make sure you register - check out the download section - go into utils - you will find a program called "smartphone alarm" - its free but basic - but it does what you want - days of the week and free!!!
