A whole new world of activesyc pain!

So last week my phone (C500) stopped syncing via BT. Nothing new there. But it also packed up via USB, giving a device not recognised error on the PC. Hard reset the phone and upgraded to activesync 3.8 whilst doing so. First time USB sync worked (with Firewall on). BT did not. I found however thta if I diabled my firewall and application control (F-Secure) activesync WOULD sync via BT if started from the PC in 'Get Connected'. BUT activesync is already in application control as 'allowed'. I can't figure out the port settings to open a BT conduit into the PC - it doesn't show as Com 9 or Com X is has umbers in the activesync ports allowed like UDP outbound allowed 137 and TCP inbound allowed 5679 and 7438 in WCESCOMM and TCP inbound of 999 and 5678 in WCESMgr. Means nothing to me. Any suggestions for things I could change??

Oh yeah and my USB connection has failed again. The first time I connected today it would chare but not detect the sync (even when Get Connected run from activesync). Unplugged it with a 'ding' noise, disabled my firewall and plugged it in again and this time no 'ding', no charging and about 30 seconds later the USB device not recognised again!!!! Anyone any ideas for what is wrong or how to fix it? Can I reload a driver in Device Manager or anything or will I be Clearing Storage?

A quick update. If I try and launch sync by BT from the phone I get the, "Close Programs Using Ports" error message, which I think is the firewall closing them so they are not available. If I disable the firewall and sync by BT it is fine and thereafter if I re-enable the firewall, walk out of range to break by BT connection and then try and resync it works perfectly. Very, very strange.

Curioser and curioser. If I leave my laptop on for a while and then try the BT sync it works. I hate intermittent problems..........
