Guest MrMagoo Posted February 1, 2005 Report Posted February 1, 2005  I was just nosying around and realised that this app makes use of many third party apps such as: rar.exe 7-zip.exe rapicopy.exe rapiconfig.exe extract.exe cabwizsp.exe ... and many more, all of which have been "debranded" by renaming them as ruttensoft??.dll. Now, I would have thought that selling this software with these included in this manner probably violates quite a few copyrights and trademark agreements. I am completely open to the possibility that they have full authority to do this, but I just thought it was interesting that they dont acknowledge any of these third party apps (except for XPExplorerBar which is included in the Readme) and that modaco are promoting this as a benefit of modaco plus.. :D
Guest maxh2003 Posted February 1, 2005 Report Posted February 1, 2005 (edited) interesting, have had a look myself; I can see lots of Microsoft stuff - and they probably don't care because it's roughly how it was intended to be used - and I can see 7-Zip, which is GPL and therefore (probably) OK. But I agree, renaming it to .DLL when it would work perfectly left as 7-Zip, seems a little strange... I can't find any trace of RAR in the thing, on the other hand. How did you find RAR.exe - which file is it? Edited February 1, 2005 by maxh2003
