Homescreen bugs

Hi there,

I've had an SPV C500 for about a week or so now and I love the thing, with one exception. I've downloaded Homescreens from various places and thought they were fine, except when it comes to actually *removing* them.

What's the deal with this? Why do some themes insist on leaving the background image for the menu there? I tried creating a blank theme but could not find the element in the XML file that actually told the phone what background to use for particular parts, specifically (startup, shutdown and menu background images).

I'm sure it must be something "I'm" doing and not a bug with the phone is it? I *would* like loads of themes on my phone but if I can't trust half of them because they don't default *all* values before applying there own; how can I? Shouldn't this be up to the phone to do each time it applies a new theme and not mingle with values of the previous theme?

Cheers loads in advance!

Nick.

Well, in some ways it's not the "old" homescreen that's doing it - it's the new one.

If a Homescreen doesn't include something (like a Startup screen for example) the phone doesn't go back to a default one - it uses the last one it knows about.

Startup screens might be a bad example. I think the phone can actually only have one active startup or shutdown screen, so by changing it you are removing the default one.

You could always make your own "default" homescreen, and set everything. Then load that one when you want to remove the previous settings before loading a new homescreen. Does that make sense?

I've had instances where the homescreen has been removed but the settings in the Homescreen options still have the background set, change it to "default" and that might sort things.

If it's just extra screens then there ia a cab file in the stickies list that will return everything to default.
