The "Game of Yacht" or known today as Yachtzee originated from a dice game played on a yacht. Yachtzee is a very addictive and fun game to play! Now you can take Yachtzee anywhere on your Pocket PC. You can play up to 8 players on Yachtzee. The animations are stunning. As you roll the dice, the dice sweep across the score sheet into their perspective slots and reveal their face values. If you haven't played Yachtzee, don't worry because we included the rules in detail, which is easily accessable from the main menu. Once you start playing Yachtzee, you'll never want to stop. Highscores are kept so you can compete against you previous scores. Dazzling graphics and awesome sound packed into one small exe. You won't find that anywhere else!

Features:

Play with up to 8 players!

Undo Option - If you accidentally placed on the wrong score, you can undo!

Score Board - You can see all the players scores at once at anytime!

Number of Turns - You can see the number of turns per game.

Options - You can control animations, sounds, and hold style.

High Scores - Up to 10 high scores are saved so you can compete with your best out of 10.

Stunning Graphics and Awesome Sounds!

Available from smartphone.net priced $12.99

This looks quite good, I quite like Yachtzee

Is it just me, or are games getting more expensive? I know its only £6 (+ VAT) but it seems like prices are creeping up. Or I'm getting tighter maybe.

@JRC

Thanks for that, never seen that app before!

Also noticed the "baby monitor" app on the homepage, sad I know, but I am a dad.

There's been a Symbian version for a little while and was wondering if there was anything for the Smartphone

Nah, it's not you, prices have been creeping up. I guess it's whatever the market will bear. If people will pay $10, more or less, for Yahtzee, then the next guy will charge $12 and so on. I can see prices going up as apps get more complex and take more time to write and make market-ready, but for something like Yahtzee....nah, I won't pay it. I've written Yahtzee games in various languages for various platforms and not one took longer than an hour to write. I'd call $10 a pop overreaching but that's my opinion.

This is really an addictive game. I have it and it's great when you're sort of bored, but have to kind of pay attention to work or something. lol

TBH the freebie one (link posted by JRC a couple of posts above this one) is great.

Some instructions would be good (took me a while to figure it out) but the graphics and controls are easy once you've sussed it

I can't see the commercial one being $13 better than the freebie, so I'll give it a miss personally

I'd forgotten all about this, I never got it either and it looks like it's disappeared, googling only gives that one link so if anyone has it and it is freeware could they please attch it to a post so people can download it?

If it's not freeware does anyone have an email address for the author?

Thanks

On MobiSmart (which is where the link goes to) says "Please don't mirror this file" or words to that effect.

The last posts on their thread are from the Developer and the Site Admin, and they seem to say that he's working on the game and will get it fixed soon.

Good news, I've been in contact with the author of this file and he tells me he forgot to renew his domain name. That's why the download doesn't work.

He've paid for it and the download link is UP now! He warned the game is NOT finished so you may find some bugs with it.
