Guest Sir_Sanuk Posted February 3, 2005 Report Posted February 3, 2005 Hi, sorry if this has been asked before or if i am posting this in the wrong place but I really need some help as after trying to enable the internet on my Orange SPV C500 phone (on O2) I have reached a brick wall that is giving me a serious headache!! So can anyone please tell me the WAP/MMS/GPRS settings I need to set up an Orange SPV C500 on the o2 network (UK)? Many thanks to anyone kind enough to reply! Cheers, the honourable Sir Sanuk
Guest Sir_Sanuk Posted February 3, 2005 Report Posted February 3, 2005 BTW I have tried some of the other o2 settings suggested on this site but they don't seem to work. So far when I try to connect it just says: 'Unable to place call' or alternatively says 'finding site...' at the top for ages before saying 'alert - The page you are looking for cannot be found' Please, some definitve settings for this would be great, Thanks

Guest Sir_Sanuk Posted February 3, 2005 Report Posted February 3, 2005 ok thanks...I've just tried all that but unfortunately i still need get the following message when i try to access the internet: Error Unable to place call I am on o2 contract but I don't think I have GPRS enabled, although I was able to use normal WAP fine on my old Sony Ericsson. Any other ideas?! Thanks
Guest martin Posted February 3, 2005 Report Posted February 3, 2005 Try doing the Internet service first and then the WAP service. Internet service: 1 When you turn the phone off and on, you should have a top centre G displayed on the phone. 2 Delete all the existing dialup, proxy and gprs connections to clear out the registry data. 3 Recreate the following Create GPRS Connection: Description: O2 Internet Connects to: The Internet Access point: mobile.o2.co.uk Username: o2web Password: password In data connections make 'Internet connection: O2 Internet' In Internet explorer, Untick 'automatically detect settings' and make 'Select network: The Internet' If you get 'unable to make call' then I suspect that O2 have not activated the GPRS internet service on your account and you would need to speak to CS. WAP service Create proxy connection: Description: O2 WAP proxy Connects from: The Internet Connects to: Wap Network Proxy(name:port): 193.113.200.195:8080 Type: HTTP Create GPRS connection: Description: O2 GPRS WAP Connects to: The internet Access point: wap.o2.co.uk Username: o2wap Password: password In Data Connections make 'WAP connection: O2 GPRS WAP' In Internet explorer, Untick 'automatically detect settings' and make 'Select Network: WAP Network' You should now be able to connect the HTML pages like www.google.com using the GPRS WAP + proxy connection. Let us know if you have any problems with it. Martin :D
Guest Sir_Sanuk Posted February 4, 2005 Report Posted February 4, 2005 Thanks so much for replying. Wel it still says 'unable to place call' so I am now trying to get o2 to activate GPRS on my account. The customer service number is 'experiencing technical difficulties' so no luck yet but that's another matter! I will try again after I have sorted the GPRS out with o2 Cheers!
Guest martin Posted February 4, 2005 Report Posted February 4, 2005 or alternatively says 'finding site...' at the top for ages before saying 'alert - The page you are looking for cannot be found'If you get this error then it means you are connected i.e GPRS is activated on your account and the APN you are using is available. I suspect you had this error when using the GPRS WAP service (APN wap.o2.co.uk) which really should have worked when you added the WAP proxy connection. If you are on contract then ask CS to activate the GPRS Internet Service which uses APN mobile.o2.co.uk as this gives full data access. I think O2 charge a bit more for this APN but it's worth it if you have a phone with internet applications or if you want to use your phone as a modem. I think O2 call it mobile web.
Guest Sir_Sanuk Posted February 5, 2005 Report Posted February 5, 2005 ok well o2 have activated GPRS and MMS on my account, so I now get the 'G' symbol in a white square at the top of my phone which seems to be there permanently, but now when I try to access a web page I get a new error message: 'Error Unable to connect. Verify you have network coverage and try again.' I have full reception though! Arrgh this is so frustrating!
