Guest fowler23 Posted February 4, 2005 Report Posted February 4, 2005 I just got my MPX220 from wirefly today. The only problem I have is that they programmed my voicemail number as 00000000. Anyone know how to change that? I've got the correct number but I can't assign it to the 1 key in speed dial because it's reserved. I cannot locate the voicemail contact that's currently saved there to edit it either. Sorry for the newbie question, but any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
Guest HuddaDudda Posted February 4, 2005 Report Posted February 4, 2005 I have a similar issue myself. When I got my new phone when I held down the number "1" key the voicemail number was all zeros. Ok no big deal so I went to Start -> Settings -> Phone -> Call Options and made sure to get the voice mail number for my area from Cingular. I set it and saved it but its not staying saved. I thought it was a defective phone however the replacement phone they sent me is doing the same thing! ANy ideas what this could be. I also had them send me a new sim card just in case that was the isse, but its not.
Guest DavidD Posted February 11, 2005 Report Posted February 11, 2005 I had this issue too, having switched from AT&T to Cingular. You can change the number programmed to the '1' key by navigating to your Settings, then Phone, then Call Options. You should see "Voice mail number". Enter it in, save, and then restart the phone. Now, to get that number you're going to need to call Cingular (or whoever). The number you get is based on your location. Some providers allow you to call your own mobile number to retrieve voicemail, so you may be able to get by putting your own cell number in this field.

I spoke to a cingular rep who reset me to the network and now its fine. THe MPx220 does connect to the network and somehow that saved the setting. Kind of strange if you ask me. Its fixed now so I dont care what the issue was! lol
Guest nicki Posted February 15, 2005 Report Posted February 15, 2005 I had this same problem and I called cingular. I also had a reallly strange number showing up in my calls list on the website. It turned out that this number was my voicemail?? Even though I never even knew how to access voice mail. The thing that I thought was strange about it, was that it was a number in Delaware. I live in NE Pennsylvania. I asked this to the Cingular rep and she said thats perfectly normal because long distance is free. Anyone else have voicemail number access numbers in other states?
