Surely it would be quicker (and cheaper) to just send it off to PPC yourself?

Expansys offer this??? Since when? How much? GIMME!!!!!

AFAIK, Expansys only ship it to PPCTech anyway. So not sure of what you gain this way over doing it direct?

Yea but its got to be cheaper as ive emailied them and they ship a container to u to put the jam in and send it off and you dont have to pay international shipping, ive also mailed PPCTECHS an they linked me to expansys saying that they were doing it in the uk.

Im so tempted in getting this done to make it perfect but 6 WEEKS!

And at the end of the day, as nice as it would be, I just cant justify spending £123 for 64MB of memory. I can get TWO 1GB SD cards for that!!

...yes, but...ooohh the decisions...gonna have to think about this one...

You would seriously pay that Tigernet? Thats a lot of money... Plus you would have to be without your Jam for six weeks!!

...I know, I know...not run out of memory yet, so will probably hold off for now...as you say, being without the Jam for 6 weeks would be tough...but a 128Mb Jam...if only they would put WiFi in as well!!!

Do you envisage running out of memory on the phone itself ?

Is there a need for this that anyone has identified ?

Or is it a size thing ?

Fnarr

I chose a simpler method of freeing up more memory. I did a Hard Reset on my Jam this morning and wiped the memory card that I have clean. I then set about installing all my apps again from scratch, this time only putting the essential ones that NEED to be in main memory (like MS Voice Command) to RAM, other slightly less important stuff I put in Storage (Avantgo and Simple Tunes) and all the rest I put onto my memory card. I now have my Jam exactly the way that I want it, with TONS of software and games installed, but with 8MB Storage space and 16MB Program memory free, which is plenty to ensure smooth operation.

And I didnt have to fork out £123 to do it or be without my Jam for 6 weeks!

...it's always about size!!!

@Chaser81...good idea...I will give this a go...

...what do people think are the ESSENTIAL Apps to go in phone memory??? :?:

...also, there was a program on the smartphone site called sdmail (I think)...anyone know if this has been ported for the Jam? (it stores mail directly to sd card...)

I'm following the Smartphone route of not installing anything to the device memory unless absolutely necessary. The only things I've not installed to card are Pocket Plus and the camera patch.

Probably a dumb question but how do you install stuff on the SD or in storage and not RAM? Mine never gives me the option????

I always get the option with MSI-type installers but can't remember if I've installed any cabs yet. The option comes up on the PC.

There is a tiny program called cabinstl that i you can put on your SD card or ROM storage, it's less than 100K from memory, and when you run it, you can choose the cabfile to install, and where to install it to, and if you want to delete the cab after installation or not. Very handy!

I seem to remember a program out there that would shift programs to the storage card without having to uninstall and re-install...anyone remember where this went??? :?:

Hello

--> Is it possible to save contents of e-mail folders onto an SD card, as its taking up all the RAM?

--> Also, is it possible to alter which programs are installed where (ie. either the storage card or main storage)? - to conserve RAM

Cheers

You can store mail attachments on the SD Card, but not the mail itself (unless you find a util that does that).

You can install progs the either SD, Storage or ROM by selecting NO when activesync asks you to install in the default location. IT will then show a dialog that says how my space is needed for the prog and you can select where to install it to. Or, use a prog called CabInstl to install cab files to a different location on your PDA. Great for keeping a backup of all your CAB files on an SD and being able to load them back to the appropriate place if you have to hard reset or something.
