Guest LittleScooby Posted February 5, 2005 Report Posted February 5, 2005 I'm trying to do something that may or may not be possible on my old trusty MPX200 and I was wondering if someone knows of any software that exists that can do what I am trying to do (or even if multiple software packages combined) could do this. Basically, I want to be able to make my MPX200 play different sound files depending on different email rules, or different sound files for different email contacts. I know this can be done for different callers with CallerID programs and for SMS messages. I just need to be able to do the same thing with email. I have created a bunch of sound files that I would like played as different networking tasks are completed or encountered. My MPX is running Smartphone 2002. For instance, when my backup software completes a nightly backup, my backup software can email my MPX200 (which could be checking for new email every 10 minutes or so) with the help of a program like check4mail. The only thing is, I think Check4mail can only play 1 sound file when it determines that email is present. I also want my virusscan software to notifiy me if viruses are detected on a network, etc, etc (which it can do through email notifications). Since almost all software can send email based on events, I figured email would be better to use than sms. I can currently accomplish this project on a normal PC using MS Outlook 2000 rules. I can have a rule that runs a batch file that can play the different sounds based on either who the email message is sent from, or what is in the subject line of a messge, but the email program that comes with the MPX200 is too limited and doesn't have email rules where it can do certain things based on email messages sent to it. So, in a nutshell, I want my MPX200 to play pre-digitized WAV files saying things like "Nightly Backup is completed, have a nice day", "Virus Detected on network", "File server is down", etc, as these events actually happen on my network. Does this seem like an impossible project, or could it be done? Any help would be appreciated.
