Guest rickyburke Posted February 5, 2005 Report Posted February 5, 2005 hopefully this can be moved so everyone can see this! just got my orange bill in, ive used 13.0419 Mb of gprs, i get 3Mb free because of my Orange Premier 400 talk plan, so when the remailing 10.0419 equates to a cost of £100.42 something has to be wrong Phoned Orange who say this is a common problem with Premier tariffs, they work out your on pay as you go gprs usage, therefore they charge you £10 per Mb. instead of the quoted £3. So i say, fair enough, can you sort it..........'no' apparently the only way to sort it is to come off orange premier. then itll be fine, so will i still get my upgrade after 9 months........'no' because your not on orange premier anymore. will the bill be changed so i dont have the extra £100 coming out my bank............''no', we'll put a credit on your account. What is goin on at Orange these days. If they're going to give you a tariff, they've got to at least make sure it works!!! So just be careful when using gprs on Orange Premier!
Guest Chaser81 Posted February 5, 2005 Report Posted February 5, 2005 Orange have never been able to adjust a bill if they cock it up, they always have to "Apply a credit" to the following months bill. Its wrong really, as that means they have YOUR money in THEIR account earning them interest instead of it being in yours. I'm sure thats illegal (or at least immoral) but arguing this point with them has never resulted in them changing their policy.
Guest amo Posted February 5, 2005 Report Posted February 5, 2005 Im sure the PAYG tariff for GPRS is only £4 per MB? Excuse me if im wrong on this one, not at work at the moment!
Guest doyle_am Posted February 5, 2005 Report Posted February 5, 2005 I have no idea how Orange work out their charges for data either. Last month I used my 3G data card and downloaded over 5MB so was expecting a good few quid on my bill. But somehow they only charged me 90p! Think I might overlook this little mistake

If O have agreed to credit your account then they have effectively admitted they were at fault, so your best bet might be to ask for confirmation in writing that they are going to credit you. The fact that they have offered a credit doesn't make any difference - an error was made and under the DD guarantee you can ask the bank to reclaim it.
Guest martin Posted February 5, 2005 Report Posted February 5, 2005 This may have happened because you have not selected a GPRS bundle (additional services) when subscribing to Orange Premier. You could select a GPRS bundle now and ask Orange CS to add it to your account but make sure you know the date when the new GPRS data costs start. Click HERE for GPRS bundle rates. Note if you go to http://shop.orange.co.uk/shop/show/offer/premier and Select plan, Select additional services, this is where you would have added the Orange World Access GPRS bundle. It may be worth speaking to CS again about your charges. Good luck

I took out another contract with Orange in the first week of December, I should have been put on the Off peek any network 1000 at £25 a month, this is what was written on my contract, instead I found out when my first bill arrived that I had been put on Any time any network 1000 at £90 a month. It took untill mid Jan finally get put on the right tarrif and only last week was my bill recalculated to the correct amount, but before the payment was due to come out of my account I cancelled my direct debit. I kept phoning orange every other day asking to have my bill recalculated, I kept being told that this couldnt be done until a payment has been made. It wasnt until the payment date of my direct debit passed and they got no money from me that someone finally agread to do it. I got my line disconnected at one point, phoned them up and was told that they couldnt reconnect me untill a payment was received. I mentioned that my bill was in the process of being recalculated, still they couldnt reconnect me without payment. So I mentioned all the trouble Id had through no fault of my own and that I wouldnt pay them a penny until my bill was right, also I wanted my tarrif recalculating again to take into account the days that they going to cut me off. Finally a supervisor came on and said I would be reconnected within the hour, and I was. My bill is now correct and payment has been made. Dont stand for any crap they tell you, stand your ground, demand to have it recalculated but be pleasent all the time and you sould get it done.... hopefully. Stezos
Guest rickyburke Posted February 6, 2005 Report Posted February 6, 2005 regarding putting more gprs bundles on my account, i asked if i could do this to solve the problem, and the CS guy said no. Ive never heard the word no so many times in a fone call!!!

BTW I believe premier tariffs members have a dedicated CS number to call or did you just call 150. I would have thought that if the inclusive GPRS is on the premier account is worth £4 a month as stated on the premier online offer then it should at least be equivalent to the Orange World Access 4 which is 4MB inclusive and then £1 per MB.
Guest rickyburke Posted February 7, 2005 Report Posted February 7, 2005 thats exactly what i thought, illl give them a call back and ask for a bundle to be put on again.

I explained and she came back and agreed it was OK. Talk about the left NOT knowing what the right is doing. As for my DD, trust me, it ain't getting set back up unitl I have guaranteed that the bill is up to date.
Guest Alien18 Posted February 9, 2005 Report Posted February 9, 2005 Hi, I haven't read through all the replies to this post but a similar thing happened to me on my last bill. I had a 3MB bundle on my phone but apparently it was only on my account for 12months - NO ONE told me at all. But the all knowing OCS said that i "would've been told when i started my 12 month contract" which i wasn't. Anyway, i digress (is that a word). The 3mb bundle subsequently dropped off my account after 12months and when i used ~5.5Mb GPRS they charged me £10/MB. Bringing my total bill to about £99  . When i rang up they agreed the wrong price had been charged but didn't know why. The man at O worked out how much my bill SHOULD have been but advised me that he couldn't adjust the bill only "Apply a credit to my account". Luckily, I pay my Orange bills in cash, after having numerous problems with Orange taking out incorrect payments by DD. Anyway, i paid the difference in cash and so far everything seems to have gone ok since the cash + applied credit = outstanding balance. Just thought i'd share this info incase it helps anyone else.
Guest stringbean Posted February 10, 2005 Report Posted February 10, 2005 I got stung by this last month. I'm on a regular contract and my Orange World 3 package ended without me realising and I got stuck on a £10/Mb rate. I phoned up to complain and got an apologetic customer services person who credited my account with the difference and gave me a months free Orange World 4. It's nice to see that I wasn't the only person affected by this, even though it should never happen!
Guest nowimboard Posted February 10, 2005 Report Posted February 10, 2005 Orange seem to be a bunch of twunts, I have a bit of free time and i go through my bills to make sure there is nothing wrong with it. The past two months im gettingchared for another network calls to a number i dont know. Its not on my phone, Not in my calls history and not on Outlook. How can i be making calls to another network if i dont have the number?!?! I cant prove to orange im not making the calls but i'm having to pay ofr them. Any suggestions. Part from phoning the number and asking who it is [and risk sounding likea idiot, well no risk there really!]
