Guest Sir_Sanuk Posted February 6, 2005 Report Posted February 6, 2005 Hi, I have the Orange SPV c500 smartphone but am using it with an o2 contract sim card. o2 have activated my account to enable GPRS and MMS and I have put in all the o2 connection settings that people have given me on this site, but now whenever I try to access a web or wap page I get the following error message: 'Unable to connect. Verify you have network coverage and try again.' Does anyone know what is causing this and more importantly what I can do to solve it? Why does it say to check network coverage when my phone has full reception?! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Guest martin Posted February 6, 2005 Report Posted February 6, 2005 Still no luck  'Unable to connect. Verify you have network coverage and try again.' This means you have failed to initiate an active PDP context. It could either be a problem on the network (BVC/SGSN/GGSN) or the phone. You could try setting up the phone using Over The Air configuration. First delete all the existing Dialup, Proxy and GPRS settings. Click HERE In internet explorer, untick 'Auto detect settings' and make 'Select network:The intermet'. Try and access a website. If you still get the 'unable to connect' error then it's possible that O2 has still not added this APN to your account. Next you can try the WAP+proxy settings. Click HERE In internet explorer, untick 'Auto detect settings' and make 'Select network:WAP network'. Try and access http://www.google.com/wml If neither work then maybe you can try your SIM in another phone to check that GPRS service is OK with O2.
Guest Sir_Sanuk Posted February 7, 2005 Report Posted February 7, 2005 Thanks again Martin! Well I tried all of the above and successfully reveived the settings from hellomoto.com, only to receive the same error. I then tried to use GPRS on my old phone (Sony Ericcsson T10) and that didn't work either - it said: 'GPRS Parameters not supported' So maybe there is still a prob with my o2 account rather than the phone itself? Or perhaps the SIM card is too old to support GPRS?
Guest martin Posted February 7, 2005 Report Posted February 7, 2005 I would say the problem likely to be in the network. You could ask O2 to reactivate GPRS on your account with internet, WAP and MMS but the connection could be failing at cell level or within the SGSN/GGSN. Ideally you would have another O2 SIM (post or prepaid) that you could use to confirm if GPRS is failing for other phones in your area.
Guest Sir_Sanuk Posted February 8, 2005 Report Posted February 8, 2005 WEll GPRS is now working on my old Sony Ericcson but I still can't get it to work on the SPV c500!!! THis is a nightmare...
