Hi Everyone,

Does anyone know if the caller ID feature of the Jabra BT800 works with the I-Mate Jam? Anything else that works or doesn't work with the Jam and the BT800?

Thanks,

GP

Just bought one from carphone warehouse (pricematch to www.directmobileaccessories.co.uk, so a bargain at 66.49. It arrives tomorrow, so will post then. If it doesnt work, I have 14 days to return it, and buy a cheaper one!

- That said, I didnt just buy it for the Caller-ID, I got it as it has a USB charging cable, so I only need 1 car-charger (have bought a car charger with a USB socket, so can plug in either a normal usb-mini cable to charge phone, or the lead that comes with the BT800)

reply as promised now that I have the BT800.

Caller ID works fine, you can see the incoming calls on the headset lcd screen. That said, the reality of the small size of the numbers means that you can't read the numbers very easily at all - they appear to be MUCH smaller than in the photos on the jabra website.

That said, I didnt just buy for the caller id, so this doesnt worry me too much.

You can also view the recent incoming calls on the headset and then press the answer/dial button, and the phone will dial that number.

Only problem so far is that I cannot see how to get it working with Fonix Voice Dial - when I press the button on my MDA Compact that launches Voice Dial, it comes through the phone but not on the headset - I will try this again later, only unpacked it late last night!

Battery life of the phone doesnt seem to be particularly impared by having bluetooth on. Battery time remaining has gone down 15 minutes in the last 3 hours of standby + a 5 min call through the headset.

Thanks for the update. I decided to buy a Sony HBH-660 and will post my results when I get it. The only reason I decided to get the Sony? It was much cheaper and most of the posts state that it works slightly better than the BT800 with the Jam.

I have read that if the name is not in the contact list, the Jabra will display unreadable characters, do you have the same issue?

Thanks,

GP

All the numbers in my contacts list are entered in international format +441234567890. However, although the phone can resolve these correctly, the BT800 only displays the number: eg 01234567890.

If I change the format of one of my contacts, it then displays UNREADABLE CHARACTERS!! (having never really read the instructions i didnt even know that it was capable of displaying the contact name!)

Another problem I have noticed is with dialling out from the headset (by using the call list). I set my phone to lock after 5 minutes, requiring a password to be used. If password is on, then you cannot make a call from the headset.

Hi,

Are you saying that you can make calls from the BT-800 without pulling out the Jam? That's awesome if that's the case. I really didn't realize that the Jam would work with that function. Very nice!

Yes, by using the call list function, you can initiate calls direct from the headset, but only for numbers stored on the headset (from previous incoming numbers)

Well, I decided to buy the BT-800 along with the Sony hbh-660. I haven't received the Sony, but did purchase the BT-800 at CompUsa. The headset sounds great, but the caller ID is hit or miss. Calling from the headset is cool, but since many times the caller ID feature doesn't work, the dialing out feature doesn't come into play.

Is your caller ID feature consistent? If so, how do you get it to work all time?

Thanks,

GP

Well, I received the Sony HBH-660 today and the caller ID feature works everytime. Sound quality is pretty good so far, but need more time to evaluate.

Since I have both the Sony and Jabra, I will try them for the next couple of days to compare. My gut feeling is that I will probably stick with the Sony. Why? The caller ID feature seems to work everytime and I don't think I will use the dialing feature on the Jabra BT800 while driving. It's hard enough to get to that menu to dial from the Jabra. I think it's easier to dial from the phone.
