Guest griffog Posted February 8, 2005 Report Posted February 8, 2005 We're pleased to announce the availability of spoken POI alert warnings to replace the built-in selection of beeps and bongs on TomTom Mobile for MS Smartphone. Download and full instructions at www.pocketgpsworld.com/tomtom-go-poi-alerts .
Guest chucky.egg Posted February 8, 2005 Report Posted February 8, 2005 Ah, that's great! One suggestion: Rather than having "Gatso 60" etc, can we have "Gatso in 200 yards", "Gatso in 100 yards" etc?

One suggestion: Rather than having "Gatso 60" etc, can we have "Gatso in 200 yards", "Gatso in 100 yards" etc? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> We're restricted to the 15 Slots so given that we have to cover Gatso, Mobile, Redlight, SPECS and also provide the option of Speed warnings it's not currently possible

The one above is a bit malformed. I've posted a news item about this on the front page of that site I run...
Guest chucky.egg Posted February 8, 2005 Report Posted February 8, 2005 Oh, have I missed something then? What are "Gatso 60" and "Gatso 50" (for example) used for? - Is there a way to set the POI warning to use the sound for the applicable speed limit in a particular area? - Or a way to have a "countdown" as you approach the POI?
Guest fozzie Posted February 8, 2005 Report Posted February 8, 2005 Oh, have I missed something then? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Errr. seems like it. What are "Gatso 60" and "Gatso 50" (for example) used for?<{POST_SNAPBACK}> That's the speed limit that the GATSO is in.
Guest neilg Posted February 9, 2005 Report Posted February 9, 2005 fantastic stuff! a much appreciated add-on
Guest Posted February 10, 2005 Report Posted February 10, 2005 Brilliant, tested this morning on the way to work and no problems at all. If I was being greedy I'd ask that the sound files be a little louder but it's excellent either way
Guest fozzie Posted February 10, 2005 Report Posted February 10, 2005 You can make them louder yourself - just run them through Windows Sound Recorder and select 'Increase Volume' a couple of times
Guest nedge2k Posted February 11, 2005 Report Posted February 11, 2005 this mod seemed to kil my tt :( Screen kept going all funny...then mapopolis went german :S All prolly unrelated...but its a hell of a coincidence if it is
Guest chucky.egg Posted February 11, 2005 Report Posted February 11, 2005 That's the speed limit that the GATSO is in. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Sorry, missed this thread for a while. How do I use these "speed zones" with TTM then? Does the Camera database know what the speed limit is, and play the corresponding sound?
Guest mcwarre Posted February 12, 2005 Report Posted February 12, 2005 You can make them louder yourself - just run them through Windows Sound Recorder and select 'Increase Volume' a couple of times  Which file? the data check file??
Guest fozzie Posted February 12, 2005 Report Posted February 12, 2005 Each .wav file. Just open each one in Sound Recorder then increase the volume; it will then be saved with the new volume level. Then copy them back to the phone.
Guest digger Posted February 12, 2005 Report Posted February 12, 2005 Correct me if I am wrong. But as far as I know, you can't use .wav files for POI alerts on tom tom mobile. At least not on my version. The POI's from PocketGPSWorld came with .wavs too, maybe that is where the confusion is???
Guest mcwarre Posted February 12, 2005 Report Posted February 12, 2005 It only accepts .ogg files so a conversion is needed. Still cant find those .wav (or .ogg) files...................
