Upgrade from E200

Hi folks,

Had an Orange SPV E200 for almost a year so looking to get a new smartphone. Liked the features of the E200, but there were a few issues that really annoyed me about it, to the point that I wouldn't get another one.

I just wondered if anyone else had upgraded from an e200 to another phone and what they thought. The issues I had were that the joystick was too fiddly and often didn't do what I wanted it to do; The battery life on it is pathetic, and if you had a memory card in it it was even worse - lasting a day and a half at best; The predictive text on it got on my nerves, because it didn't seem to remember new words for more than a few days, so I've spent most of the last year teaching it the same words over and over; There was a few times were it crashed as well :evil: Also, the time it took to boot up was also very frustrating. There were other things, but while I'm sitting here, I can't seem to remember!

On the plus side, there were many good features, like excellent screen and syncronising with Outlook, but the faults just seemed like typical Microsoft - "Lets just get the product out ASAP and we'll worry about errors later"

Does the SPV C500 have similar faults, or have they managed to sort these things out. Would I be better with a different kind, like the Nokia 6670.

Go for the C500 it's a very nice bit of kit and more stable than the E200.

I've yet to encounter any problems with mine. :lol:

I've heard that the C500 doesn't come with the Activesync USB cradle. Does the cradle for the E200 work for both, or would I need to buy a new one seperately?

Oh, another thing - had a look on ther orange website and there is and SPV C500S. Does anybody know if there's anything technically different from the C500, or is it just a different colour (ie silver)

c500 (s=silver)...lol...no spec diff. at all

Someone is selling pricy homemade stands for the C500 but otherwise you'll get used to not having a cradle.

I keep checking the O website waiting for the E200 to be removed so any "accidents" I might have with my E200 should result in a shiny C500 whizzing in my general direction.

I don't see the lack of a cradle as a prob as a BT dongle will do the ActiveSync from my pocket and a charger plugs in anywhere.

Wots the battery life like on the C500. Gotta be better than the 200?

It's still not perfect, but far far better than the E200
