Guest dazza12 Posted February 9, 2005 Report Posted February 9, 2005 It looks like the patch for Bluetooth is at least starting to filter through. It's currently available on the Swiss site (orange.ch) but not yet on the French or UK sites. I'm also wondering if the ROM update will only contain this patch as opposed to a full blown one with updated Caller ID software etc. It's also quite good to see Modaco recommended by Orange here. Here is the Swiss Bluetooth update Don't put it on your UK phone though.

Yeah - that's good news - as you say, if Orange in other countries are bringing it out then Orange UK should at least know about it (and have it?) so hopefully they will release it soon. I hope they do release the full patch with everything in though - if they are shipping new units with all the updates rom versions in, they must have the latest versions because it has their branding etc and people running older versions is only going to cause them headaches in support. I just got my M2000 yesterday but it seems to have all the old versions on - unlike people like MrOrangeShop, blackhorse etc.. Still, better an old version than no M2000 at all! --ian
Guest Pondrew Posted February 9, 2005 Report Posted February 9, 2005 I hope you're right. Just that T-Mobile Germany released what I've heard is a great update for the Blue Angel a month or so back and T-Mobile UK show no signs of releasing it! Then again, Orange did always support the Smartphones I bought in the past so they'll likely show T-Mobile how it's done...
Guest Tricky911t Posted March 2, 2005 Report Posted March 2, 2005 I hope you're right. Just that T-Mobile Germany released what I've heard is a great update for the Blue Angel a month or so back and T-Mobile UK show no signs of releasing it! Then again, Orange did always support the Smartphones I bought in the past so they'll likely show T-Mobile how it's done... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I was on the phone to Orange Level 2 data support about the Bluetooth problems in the first M2000's for about an hour yesterdaythey dont know of any update for from Swiss Orange or from within. So I directed them to the site and asked if it would invalidate my phone if I used one of the patchs from there and they said it would but confessed its a grey area so a stolen M2000 might resolve any problems should the patch no work! Anyway installed the German patch on my m2000 and it patchs up to 3500 from 2200 but all the menus are hard coded in German, so I installed the Broadcom 3500 patch which is in English and this over wrote the German patch so I had english bluetooth using 3500 so I went "what the heck" and installed the Broadcom 3900 patch and its still working fine. Now my bluetooth headset works fine where as it didnt on the Original 2200 build so give it go is what I'd say to anyone reading this with a problematic bluetooth.... This is what my M2000 is now: Rom Version 1.12.22 WWE Rom Date 09/27/04 Radio 1.04.00 Protocol 1337.35 Ext Rom 1.12.139 WWE BT-PPC 1.0.0 Build 3900 Phone is working fine even with a 1gb memory card !
Guest p1tse Posted March 2, 2005 Report Posted March 2, 2005 what's this patch for? is there a problem on the m2000 on bluetooth or something?
Guest Tricky911t Posted March 2, 2005 Report Posted March 2, 2005 what's this patch for? is there a problem on the m2000 on bluetooth or something? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The M2000's released in Nov have bluetooth connectivty problems Orange UK dont admit there is a problem but Orange in Switzerland does and has released a patch. Now not all M2000's will show any problems it depends on what devices you use; mine would pair and I could use it to make a call and typically it would then stop workinging either crashing the phone so a soft reset is required or I'd get a message saying the Bluetooth licence has expired, the latter being the most common. Now the same headsets (notice plural) all work with the phone so I can use it legally in the car now. Thats the problem......
Guest p1tse Posted March 2, 2005 Report Posted March 2, 2005 thanks, i see. how do you tell if one has the problem or is an earlier version m2000 as November one? also what's a soft reset and a hard reset i keep hearing? (and i have read that once switched on and off, the custom applications go or something)? thanks

Soft Reset is pushing stylus into the hole titled reset hard reset is pulling your battery out and letting the system rub flat which takes from about 30mins.
Guest djlangton Posted March 14, 2005 Report Posted March 14, 2005 I have been having the same BT problem on my m2000 which I have had since Dec04...it seems to lose the headset connection after a call, and the only way of making another call is to switch BT off/on again......which when you are on the m'way isn't exactly safe! Anyway, I spoke to OrangeUK this morning to see if they had this ROM upgrade in yet (informing them of the swiss release), but they game me some story about having received one from HTC but apparently "it was returned as it did not meet the necessary standards" (whatever that means), and there is no ETA for any new ROM upgrade for the M2000. The funny thing also was that they started by saying that the reason for my problems was that my BT headset was not "tested", but then went on to state that they have no approved BT headsets on their list anyway!!! What a joke!!! :D So I am still left with the same BT problem which I would argue is now a safety/legal issue for people on the move wanting to make a call, and OrangeUK should be sorting it out, but it looks like they aren't really trying to (why can the other providers manage to sort this problem out?!?!) So would you suggest installing the Broadcom update as a alternative, as I am dubious if and when Orange will ever get this ROM update through? I guess this will invalidate support from Orange, but then again they don't seem to be able to do anything with this particular phone anyway! Rant over. Cheers DJ
Guest fraser Posted March 14, 2005 Report Posted March 14, 2005 hard reset is pulling your battery out and letting the system rub flat which takes from about 30mins. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> An easier way to hard-reset is to press the soft-reset button while holding the power button.
