Guest scott2eyes Posted February 10, 2005 Report Posted February 10, 2005 Picked up my phone yesterday for my mornng game of Jawbreaker, and noticed that it was warm. It hadn't been charging, or on a radiator or any of the obvious things that could warm a phone up... anyway, after a quick round, I switched it off to let it cool down for a while. Seemed to be working fine though, until a bit later on, when I realised that it wasn't seeing the SD card anymore. So I tried swapping for another card, checking the connection was clean etc. but no joy- it's simply refusing to see that there's a card in the slot anymore. Just wondering if anyone else has had the problem, and whether it's going to be worth the trip to the Orange shop to see if it can be fixed/replaced. (And no, I didn't take out the optional insurance... )
Guest tudor Posted February 10, 2005 Report Posted February 10, 2005 You shouldn't need insurance for this, unless you have poured coffee on it. It should be covered by warranty.
Guest scott2eyes Posted February 22, 2005 Report Posted February 22, 2005 Just a bit of an update on my fun with Orange; Feb 14th- Took the phone to the Orange shop I bought it from, explained the problem, the assistant tried out another SD card in my phone which didn't work, and my SD card in another C500, which did work. She said that they would have to send it away for repair, and that I could either have a loan of a courtesy phone, or use my own. I said I'd bring it back the next day when I had my own spare phone again. Tuesday Feb 15th. Took phone back to the shop. Monday February 21st- Got a call from the Orange shop, asking if I had left my C500 to be charged, because they had just found it in their office. Explained that I had left it to be sent away and fixed. They said that they would send it away that evening. Tuesday February 22nd- Get a call from the Orange shop, asking if I can bring in my SD card, so that they can test the phone. Explained that there is no problem with my SD card, and that the card in the shop demonstrated the same problem. Was told that "yes, I know that, you know that, but that's what we've got to do." So, in the space of 1 week, Orange have managed to do... well, nothing. Impressive...
Guest reltihmd Posted February 23, 2005 Report Posted February 23, 2005 hmmm, sounds like orange are about as useful where you are as me, they failed to turn on my roaming profiles and so i had to phone them again in germany, i am currently barred from sending mms but they don't know why (also discovered this abroad), love the C500 just wish i was still on O2 or Vodafone reltihmd
Guest Drewtech Posted February 24, 2005 Report Posted February 24, 2005 Over the years I have been with Orange, Vodafone (T-Mobile) and Cellnet (O2). Orange have managed to keep my custom for the longest because they have screwed up the least and when they have screwed up they have put things right in a customer friendly manner. I know lots of other people have had problems with Orange but all I am saying is that customer experience with all the providers is very hit and miss so jumping ship isn't always the answer.
