Guest tedp Posted February 10, 2005 Report Posted February 10, 2005 Does anyone have sample XML for the AT&T shortcut plug-in? I'm 99% sure that it's not the standard MRU plug-in because it maintains a fixed set of icons up there based on the contents of the following registry key: \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\AT&T\PluginFavorites Of course the AT&T provided AWS.FIVE_ICONS.home.xml file is tagged as a system file which means you can't copy it off of the flippin' phone without standing on your head and with the assistance of both a full moon and a tailwind
Guest tedp Posted February 10, 2005 Report Posted February 10, 2005 Sorry. I didn't do my homework adequately. Here is the relevant XML. I believe that this applies only to AT&T phones. Please note that the links listed here are overriden by the registry entry I provided in the earlier post.
Guest xenophobe Posted February 10, 2005 Report Posted February 10, 2005 Hmm... it just looks like they wanted a static RJShortcut type plugin as opposed to the standard MRU which changes... Interesting that you can state the start order so easily. I might have to try playing around with that, though making a homescreen with it would be pointless, as there are only a few SMT 5600 users here, and making a screen with the RJShortcuts makes more sense.

That's pretty cool! And it's a shame it's not more widely available. And, of course, there is the mMode plugin that puts the links for Entertainment, Sports and so on. It's actually quite flexible. The flip side of the proprietary plug-ins is that I would really like the Orange plug-in that lets you put two plug-ins on the same line. Wonder if Orange would share
Guest gpcarreon (MVP) Posted February 11, 2005 Report Posted February 11, 2005 Can you guys post a screenshot of the plugin in action? How does it differ from the abaxia plugin of Orange?
Guest tedp Posted February 11, 2005 Report Posted February 11, 2005 Can you guys post a screenshot of the plugin in action? How does it differ from the abaxia plugin of Orange? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I would be happy to but I have to confess ignorance on how to take a screenshot on the phone. Insofar as the abaxia plug-in, 'cause I don't have any way to look at that, I'm going to be hard pressed to tell you how it's different. Here is a sample of the XML for the AT & T plug-in if this helps. For mail account, you insert the name of the mail account you have set up.
Guest tedp Posted February 11, 2005 Report Posted February 11, 2005 Insofar as the abaxia plug-in, 'cause I don't have any way to look at that <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Ok...now that I've looked at the documentation on the abaxia plug-in, I see that you're more likely to be interested in the mmode plug in. First cut is that the mmode plug-in is considerably less flexible. In particular, it doesn't allow for nested menus ala' some of the abaxia customizations I saw. Basically, with the mmode plug-in, you get 5 parameters to play with: Target: either the executable or a link to the executable Command_line: parameters to pass to the target such as a URL if your target happens to be IE Text: text that appears on the screen next to the image Image: icon to be associated with this option Width Percent: how much horizontal real estate does the "selection area" for the target occupy. The default implementation from AT&T puts IE links two wide on the screen. I haven't played around with it to determine whether it will shove more in there.
Guest gpcarreon (MVP) Posted February 11, 2005 Report Posted February 11, 2005 Thanks for the info tedp. You can use Jeyo Mobile Companion to take screenshots or the trial version of SmartSS+ will do. By nested menus you mean like the this? http://img182.exs.cx/img182/2364/aincred0qr.gif Target: either the executable or a link to the executable EXE targets work on the abaxia plugin but not link to the exe. It will show the for example: 38#"\Storage\Windows\Papyrus\Papyrus.exe" and will not actually execute the target file. I haven't seen the default homescreen of Audiovox SMT5600.

That exactly what I meant  I haven't seen the default homescreen of Audiovox SMT5600. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Attached. This the default produced by AWS.FIVE_ICONS.home.xml. The mMode plugin is the one that produces the "Sports," "Entertainment" and so on links. XML for that part looks like this: ss012.bmp
Guest gpcarreon (MVP) Posted February 11, 2005 Report Posted February 11, 2005 Thanks for the attachments. image="\Storage\Application Data\Home\mMode\Bullet.bmp" So it appears they used bullets here instead of graphic icons. No docked icons on the left side of the screen just like the Orange homescreen?

It wants two columns (haven't tried three wide yet) and it wants all of its parameters or it sulks invisibly and unselectably in the background. Now I'm afraid to pass it an exe to see if it can pull the correct icon out of it.

(3 won't work).text is optional.shortcuts can point directly to .exe files."red" (255,000,000: RGB) is the "transparent" color for images. Can only specify "width-percent" to specify width as a percentage. (examined the .dll code itself for parameters)...still digging around.
