POP3 - Will my C500 make it's mind up?

Hi all - first post.

I searched for ages for the answer to this q but found nowt, neither googling or on modaco. If the answer lies somewhere already, please just say!

q: I just moved from a Vodafone SE T610 to an Orange C500 (both UK) and have probs with setting up yahoo pop3 email on the C500.

The account worked fine on my T610 (yes, I entered the inbound serv/smtp server/ports/name etc - I'm reasonably savvy with tech stuff, or so I thought :oops: ) and it actually Just Worked.

My C500 flatly refuses to work with yahoo pop3 - it just gets as far as "Connecting" with the little G in the signal indicator and then the phone just crashes. Battery removal is the only way out.

I set up a Gawab.com account (another pop3 service) and the C500 access that just fine. It's werid.

I've tried entering every possible conceivable combination of pop3 settings for my yahoo account but still no joy - I even tried the actual IP addresses of the servers instead of "pop.yahoo.etc etc". (Which seemed to help someone else's motorola - I read about this elsewhere), but still no joy with my C500.

Anyone encountered this and solved it? Or do I have to swap to gawab.com permanently. Surely if my clockwork powered T610 could manage it..........
