Guest emptei Posted February 11, 2005 Report Posted February 11, 2005 Has anyone thought about making a IR remote (Learning remote) out of your cell phone?, I know there's a program that's Pocket PC based, but nothing made for smartphones. If anyone has any imput on this, please let me know Mike
Guest Sogarth Posted February 11, 2005 Report Posted February 11, 2005 It's worth a shot, but afaik, the IR in any of these devices has a fairly short range. It might work from normal distance from a TV, but I seem to recall hearing that the IR transmitters are fairly underpowered.
Guest tudor Posted February 11, 2005 Report Posted February 11, 2005 Have a look here for full code in eVC++ for Pocket PC. You can try to port it to Smartphone.

Guest tudor Posted February 14, 2005 Report Posted February 14, 2005 They don't have APIs to facilitate this, but one can try to modulate the signal to fit the tv remote spec. I don't know the physical layer details though.
