Guest travellingman514 Posted February 11, 2005 Report Posted February 11, 2005 hi, when i use my camera when it isnt daylight, the pic is basically worthless. even using the flash doesnt help. only if i hold the camera to their face it will it work and then looks like out of horror movie. hard to believe that a fancy phone like this cant take pic at night when cheap phones 100.00 each can do this. kind of embarassing when i show this to my friends. any ideas?

Now try it again, any better? The camera on the MPx220 is NOT the best, not compared to the V3, but then again the features on the MPx220 outdo the V3!
Guest Chaser81 Posted February 11, 2005 Report Posted February 11, 2005 Although most camera phones have a night mode, it has to be said that nearly without exception, they ALL suck at night. I think it has something to do with them being CMOS as well as having no flash (obviously!).

In my opinion...
Guest gpcarreon (MVP) Posted February 11, 2005 Report Posted February 11, 2005 I had the chance to try an MPx220 here in the Philippines, tried the 'flash' and it seems more of a light illumination than a real camera flash. Well at least there was a light 'flashing'.
Guest jeffdep Posted February 12, 2005 Report Posted February 12, 2005 turn up the exposure. I found that the exposure setting overall works far far better if clicked two to three steps to the right (it is the right button on the d-pad when in cam mode). I think the exposure level is set too low from the factory. Leave the setting on automatic with the eposure bumped up and the pics come out pretty decent regardless of day or night.

Or are you talking about contrast?

Guest jeffdep Posted February 13, 2005 Report Posted February 13, 2005 I cant tell if it is labeled as contrast or exposure, it just shows a black dot for down and a white for up. Playing with it though it seems to act as exposure control, but it looks so crappy below a certain level it may as well be disabled as a function. The top two or three positions yield the best pics. Try it out.
