Hi all,

I have an spv classic and when i turned it on this morning it stops at the orange sunset screen. I can no longer turn it of or do anything with it could you advise me what to do as i need my phone for medical emergencies.

firstly, dont panic. this should be able to be fixed.

1. how long have to left it on the 'sunset screen' ? sometime when the phone become corrupt it will self reset itself and can take up to 10 minutes to restore itseft to a working state.

2. if you have left it on this screen for a while and still nothing then i would suggest a hard reset... see here:-

both of the options will restore the phone to an 'out of the box' state.

P.S. not the choice of phone for me for medical emergencies.

me, I have the same problems...I try to hard reset but after I see the orange's sunset for more and more and more !!!!!!!!!the phone doesn't works...it seems dead!I can go in canary mode but I have no idea what I must do!

If a hard reset fails then you will need to run the update to reflash tje phone.

The update is available from the Orange website.

thanks...only a question...I tried to reinsatl the rom...but the screen become white!!!!Is this correct?

It can happen, check what the computer is showing as long as it is not

saying Erasing it should be ok.

Sometimes it can hang on the initial check, the best thing to do is to have the phone in the canary screen (three colour screen) leave it connected and reboot the PC. You may need to disable any firewalls you have running.

One word of warning though the first 10% of the upgrade is the vital part where the IPSM is being erased and rewritten. Any problems ie power failure of PC crashing etc could result in a dead phone.

thanks...I've bought this phone on ebay...and the phone comes in this state...the seller didn't say exactly this.......

no, because the seller told me that the phone can be only updated in an orange point! he didn' t say what was the problem....he says that the phone doesn't works!!

now I've resolved!the phone works...just using usbterm and a orange's sd, the original that I've found on armadillo!

There is not a public java application for the phone unfortunately

more than likely the one one on coolsmartphone was the Mitac

java app that was available on their website by mistake and then removed as it was only supposed to be available to Mitac owners and not the general public.

You're not alone this is probably one of the most installed questionable applications around.

No worries you were not to know as a new user.

I'm surprised coolsmartphone still has it listed tbh then again you don't really want to spoil your phone with java rubbish anyway :D enjoy what is properly available.

my spv (original) also got stuck on the orange sunset screen. i left if for half an hour and nothing. so i tried to hard reset it. when i did hard reset it, the sunset was still there. left it by the computer and watched tv for about 10 mins. came back and there was the orange desktop.

i have never been so happy to see the destop before, now lets downloads some skins :D
