Hello there overwhelming array of smartphone users! I'm new to the game and, of course, I'm having difficulty... 8) I would be truly grateful if any of the cool heads out there could give me any insight on the issue I'm having with my Contacts appearing to have all the same phone number.

I just bought my Mpx200 off of ebay, and clicked in my existing (AT&T) SIM card ready to rock, the phone starts up just fine - I can place calls check voicemail etc. But when I navigate through my Contact list, ALL of my contacts share the same number.... YIKES, that totally freaked me out! So I snatched the SIM out and put it back into my old not-so-smart phone just to test if the data had been corrupted. Thankfully all of my contacts display their original names and numbers in my old phone.

So before exposing myself for the ignoramus that I am I have done some healthy searching through the forums, leaned how to and then preformed a Hard Reset all with no results. Even after a Hard Reset with the SIM in the phone when I enter the contacts menu everyone has the same number... stupid smart phone. Anyway I thought the Hard Reset was the end all for this phone, how could that number possibly survive to torment me?? It occurs to me that this could be something with my SIM card... but why would it still work perfectly in the other phone??

I'm to the point where I have a backup *handwritten uugh* of my contacts, and am almost willing to manually type their numbers back into there names so I can start using my mpx200!! BUT, what if I do that and the numbers don’t hold and all take on the same number again...?!

Well I hope I didn't scare off the real help with my convoluted lengthy first post, I'm just frustrated and out of my element to say the least. Thanks to anyone with the time to help!!!

Welcome to the site

It certainly sounds like some strange SIM problem, I have heard similar and it could be the way your old phone was writing it's information to the SIM.

You should try using Outlook and sync your phone using Activsync, you can then have far more detail on your contacts than the SIM can hold.

I do not save anything on SIM now as I prefer to have all my contacts backed up on my PC.

Thanks for the fast reply, I'll give that a try...much better idea than manually doing it. I've already forgotten why I bought the phone, whew anyway hope the changes hold! Thanks again
