OMG... I'm going through all of these color tags manually, and the inconsistent application of these is driving me F'N nuts!!!!

Check this stuff out:

COLOR_HIGHLIGHT selects highlighted text, but not in the Start Menu, but in applications...

COLOR_HIGHLIGHTTEXT is the highlight color for highlighting text in the Start Menu, Applications and Popups...

COLOR_WINDOWTEXT = All non-selected Start Menu text and Application text, but NOT the popups or Calendar Window text...

I'm designing my own homescreen with color scheme, and I'm running into horrendus problems. I'm not even a third of the way through them, and there is just no thought behind all of this.... really... another example:

COLOR_STATIC = Background "To:" "From:" in messaging, Selected day in Calendar Week View but not month view, input box in Tasks (but not in other input boxes)

I'll post my results when I'm finished.

My Homescreen in development (using Notepad.exe and photoshop), and two bottom screens (out of many more) that won't cooperate:

Actually, I thought it was a bit mild. When you start trying to create something uniform, and you have problems cascading from application window to application window because the color assignments to some windows are a product of a lack of coherent planning and common sense, you really start to wonder what they were thinking.

On a side note, I love PayPal and Firebird... couldn't live without them. lol.
