Guest gpcarreon (MVP) Posted February 12, 2005 Report Posted February 12, 2005 Hi everyone. I dunno if this has been raised before (Sorry, search didn't return any results) Question: What exactly does the Flashlight and Video Light options do? Flashlight (Photo program) Video Light (Video program) I have activated these options via the registry. HKLM > SOFTWARE > HTC > Camera > Common ...Values Value Name: FlashLight Value Data: 1 Thanks.
Guest James Posted February 12, 2005 Report Posted February 12, 2005 i assume is just an option in case they were going to put one in?? there are some phone cameras out there with ultra bright LED's for taking photos in the dark.. Good find!!!
Guest gpcarreon (MVP) Posted February 12, 2005 Report Posted February 12, 2005 It was an 'incidental' finding after fiddling with the registry.
Guest Confucious Posted February 13, 2005 Report Posted February 13, 2005 pzee - you're just showing off because you can edit the registree (without killing your phone) I assume these options would change the settings of the camera for artificial light but as the c500 doen't have a lihght source they have not activated these options.
Guest Confused Stu Posted February 13, 2005 Report Posted February 13, 2005 I'm shocked that HTC decided not to add a light source to help with photo's in the dark. I'm currently working on a solution to this problem - a GPRS/Bluetooth based program that accesses the local electric power grid and causes a massive overflow at the moment the picture is taken. This ensures that any lights on in the neighbourhood glow much brighter than normal as the picutres taken - then they explode. It's a very similar principal to the first flash bulbs on cameras, where you had to replace the expended bulb after each shot. OK, so HTC decided not to include a "flash" on their phones, but it was a nice touch by Microsoft to include the option in their OS. Shows they are actually looking at the mobile phone market and planning for their OS to do anything the current top-of-the-range phones can do. Now, let's see what they include within Magneto when it comes out!
Guest xenophobe Posted February 14, 2005 Report Posted February 14, 2005 Actually the camera software is written by HTC themselves. Click "about" and it'll say "High Tech Computers..."
Guest Confucious Posted February 14, 2005 Report Posted February 14, 2005 Confused Stu - I would be willing to Beta test your product. We have enough power cuts round here so i doubt if anyone would notice a few more LOL
