Guest pietta Posted February 12, 2005 Report Posted February 12, 2005 (edited) Im not sure if microsoft nerds read these forums but i wanted a place where we could make our views known, after all were the ones theyre selling their phones too. In the upcoming version, i would like: -built in support for font changing -both style and size -more solid applications -a more beefed up calendar and tasks -windows media player where you can have songs grouped by author, genre etc ( a minimize key would be nice) -full bluetooth implementation -like sonyericsson phones -capability to view and edit custom words in dictionary -support for smilies in text messaging -im tired of seeing ))) in my messages -ability to use icons in the start menu -ability to change them too -ability to choose between itap and T9 in composing messages -option to format external memory stick -option to change 'contacts' soft key to something else -a faster internet explorer Edited February 12, 2005 by pietta
Guest nowimboard Posted February 12, 2005 Report Posted February 12, 2005 -windows media player where you can have songs grouped by author, genre etc ( a minimize key would be nice) -support for smilies in text messaging -im tired of seeing ))) in my messages -ability to use icons in the start menu -ability to change them too <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Use the Home key as a minimize key and the Back key to restore it, I have no problem with smilies in my messages You can change the icons!
Guest pietta Posted February 12, 2005 Report Posted February 12, 2005 By icons in start menu, i meant icons like 'my computer' and the like. i have a sonyericsson k700 which uses these icons and navigation is more faster.
Guest xenophobe Posted February 13, 2005 Report Posted February 13, 2005 Ability to use icons in the start menu would be nice... and to be able to group them, as in several per line... much how RJShortcuts works on the homescreen. and nested. support push to talk radio technology color_code_consistency.... need more definitions, or more logical inter-application consistency. non-global settings
Guest agent.m Posted February 13, 2005 Report Posted February 13, 2005 there is a program to see smilies somewhere. to keep you going for now
Guest Alex_le_brit Posted February 13, 2005 Report Posted February 13, 2005 there is a program to see smilies somewhere. to keep you going for now  <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'd like Smartphone Lite. The ability to get rid of all the things on the phone I don't want, so that is I install something like Agile, I can get rid of MSN Messenger. Also like all software I notice that with each upgrade the file size gets bigger. Work harder on this boys and girls, get your file sizes down, give us the ability to delete functions we don't want and free up space (this is a general gripe at all software no matter what the platform actually) Otherwise I'd like:  The ability to move SMS's into Outlook just like e-mails. A decent text writer and pdf reader with the ability to use the screen in landscape mode for those of us with keyboards. WIFI support. Something like an Alt + Tab function to flip easily through open programs And there's probably more.
Guest tudor Posted February 13, 2005 Report Posted February 13, 2005 1. Synchronization of the contact's image in Outlook and the Caller ID picture, or even picture support in contacts by default, without Caller ID. 2. SMS delivery confirmation to be just a message box, not an SMS - I don't need it stored in my inbox. 3. GPRS counters with reset, so you can start at the billing date from 0. 4. Back-up over ActiveSync. 5. Folder synchronization with desktop. 6. Some form of firewall, in which you can deny GPRS access by default and enable it only to the applications you want - maybe imposing traffic limits per application.
Guest pietta Posted February 13, 2005 Report Posted February 13, 2005 'icon_arrow.gif Something like an Alt + Tab function to flip easily through open programs (i really need this one now)' 'SMS delivery confirmation to be just a message box, not an SMS - I don't need it stored in my inbox.' (this one too) -im tired of deleting a text message every time i send one out

Guest pietta Posted February 14, 2005 Report Posted February 14, 2005 the ability to have smooth scrolling when im reading my emails. currently when u press the down key a whole new page appears, which can be confusing. its like reading an article by pressing page down all the time.
Guest Alex_le_brit Posted February 14, 2005 Report Posted February 14, 2005 3. GPRS counters with reset, so you can start at the billing date from 0. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Even better, programmable by date for monthly subscribers, so that they could be programmed to automatically reset at the beginning of each new billing period. Oh and including all traffic in there would be better. Oh and an archive of counters for the last three months, for when you feel the need to quibble with Orange.
Guest PayableOnDeath Posted February 14, 2005 Report Posted February 14, 2005 an how about copy and paste text built in to that would be great  oh well good job we got Xbar for now :( and also most of the stuff allready posted also maybe make it so it doesnt crash as much and boots upfaster takes like 3hr just to for the phone to boot up lol :D
Guest pietta Posted February 14, 2005 Report Posted February 14, 2005 a quick restart option, changing a font or a skin and having to wait for 1.5min for the phone to boot up is annoying
Guest fraktal Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 (edited) better bluetooth support, MUCH better MMS support (ie, it supports it, but not half the commonly used formats for things like notes, ringtones, videos a T9 word editor app would be nice (although I think there already is a hack) * landscape mode! (haha not likely we'll ever see that, though) * *EDIT: Pocket PC Phone edition can do this; Smartphone 2002/3 can't. Edited February 16, 2005 by fraktal
Guest pietta Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 ability to attach files in emails. currently you can only attach text, recording or contact
Guest its_millertime22 Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 landscape mode! (haha not likely we'll ever see that, though) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> you CAN alread use landscape mode in all WM 2003 SE devices!! ...just click Start...Settings...Screen and choose portrait or the two landscape modes (Quite a lot of people, including myself, have mapped hardware buttons, like the recorder button to doing this). Pete

Pete <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Peter, you do know we're talking about Smartphone rather then Pocket PC PE? As far as I know none of the Smartphones allow landscape mode.
Guest pietta Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 thats right and on that note i wish we would be able to see full screen movies in the next windows version
Guest tudor Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 But... you can see full screen movies in WM2003SE with MP9.

Guest its_millertime22 Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 Yeah sorry, my mistake - but to redeem myself a tiny bit - there are a couple programs I use on my mpx200 to watch video files in full screen lanscape mode - but apart from that...... I don't know how useful I'd find lanscape on the smartphone though - it is useful sometimes on my XDA IIs but on the smartphone the keypad would also be out of use, so controlling it would be more difficult without a touch screen.
Guest pietta Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 (edited) by calling them nerds i didnt mean to offend, i wanted to paint a picture of programmers sat infront of a computer crunching codes all day long Edited February 16, 2005 by pietta

Guest xenophobe Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 First of all, does Microsoft really even care about user input? [-(
Guest pietta Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 (edited) good question, we should askPaul to talk to someone in microsoft, im sure hes got contacts. he should then let them know if they are interested in knowing what their end users want and improvements to be made Edited February 16, 2005 by pietta
