I think it's not possible because WMP is a part of ROM.

Win 2002 has WMP 8 and Win 2003 ROM has WMP 9 (at least I think so). The WMP 10 is present in Windows 2003 SE (newer models like MPx220).

I think WMP is enough for playing a few mp3s.

Why exactly would you want the album art on your phone? Surely that would just eat memory? And you wouldn't be able to see the image unless the phone was open.
