On the end of the article you have this :

"Conclusions: Club i-mate really shows that i-mate brand is the best among all, that sell HTC made phones (like Qtek, T-Mobile, Orange, etc) but unfortunately still they don't offer a ROM upgrade with Windows Media Player 10..."

I'm getting confused by all this

I was just reading:

page at microsoft.com

and it shows one of the variants of the c500 running wmp10, can we not just use the rom from that phone?

You'll be the most popular guy on this forum the day you post a link to an Audiovox SMT 5600 ROM

so technically it would work??

Can you extract the rom from one of those phones, if you had one?

Posted

It would work - the hardware is identical. No method that I know of to extract the ROM - need to wait untill Audiovox releases a ROM update.

just out of interest how do you find out which rom you are on? I haven't upgraded mine - but it is new. I had a look in system properties etc but couldn't find anything

Start -> Settings -> About, then scroll down and see the "Operator" bit. Mine is 4.1.1.4.

thanks for that, there is just so much in the phone that you can get a bit lost!

My version is 4.1.1.4 so I presume I don't need to update.

Thanks again Tudor.

Probably not for a while.... why would it need the update? It does have a GAPI problem, though it's not a bug. The implementation of it is much more strict than many programmers allow for. Also, it already comes with wmp 10.
