US T-Mobile GPRS Plans ($19.95 vs $4.95)

Hello, I been using T-Mobile unlimited GPRS internet ($19.95/month) for about 2 years now. Over the few months, I read some users opt for the $4.95 WAP plan instead. Well, here's my question since I also like to cut cost:

My previous internet setting was set to 'internet2.voicestream.com' and today, I thought I try all my previous applications using 'wap.voicestream.com'. I was shocked to see all my apps worked - including Terminal Services and pop emails.

Now, is this working because my plan has the unlimited internet and regardless which setting I use, it's going to work regardless? Or, have I been wasting my money for these past years and I could of just used the WAP plan?

Thanks in advance.
