Guest hlkenneth Posted February 14, 2005 Report Posted February 14, 2005 Hi all, this is my first post here, glad to know you all and hope we're all enjoying using mpx220. I bought it yesterday in HK for my father and we found it a very good phone, only that the font sizes're too small for my father's eyes (you know, age problem)...The version sold here in Hong Kong is already Chinese-supported...Is there anyway to adjust the font sizes to make them larger without installing Chinese fonts?...I know nothing about xml at all... Many thanks. Yours, Kenneth
Guest deniselll Posted February 15, 2005 Report Posted February 15, 2005 Hope this helps. Go to Settings, Home Screen, then, on the HOME SCREEN LAYOUT, select LARGE FONT. Enjoy.
Guest tudor Posted February 15, 2005 Report Posted February 15, 2005 See "Settings -> Accessibility -> System font size". Set it to large and see how he likes it.
Guest hlkenneth Posted February 15, 2005 Report Posted February 15, 2005 Thank you for your help first, unfortunately, the font size doesn't change... "Larger fonts" has been selected in the "home screen" menu, but nothing has changed There is no "font size" option under "accessibility"! I've checked Microsoft site and it should be aviable for choice all Smartphones...but...it's just not there...>.< maybe mine in HK is different from the version you got in your countries. Is there any invisible settings for fonts?
Guest cclboss Posted February 23, 2005 Report Posted February 23, 2005 I have the same problem. All Chinese ROM smartphones (not just Mpx220) uses a English font that is very hard to read (skinny characters) and there is no option under Accessibility to increase it. I have been asking around various forums to see if someone knows of a way to change the Font via registry or otherwise but so far I have not had any response. One possibility I can think of is to flash the phone with an upgraded English ROM (not sure if this is possible) and then add back the ability to read Chinese (although Chinese input would be gone). Ideas on how to deal with this from others would be much appreciated.
Guest hunmin Posted February 23, 2005 Report Posted February 23, 2005 (edited) Hi there, Can you place some pictures of your Chinese ROM MPx220 on here. Do you know is Sin Dai or Sum Shui Poa have chinese ROM upgrade for MPx220 phones? I m very interested in the chinese ROM version from HK. Can you check is your firmware version name 1.30 too. If you prefer the chinese fonts we are using, you can try to use ms.ming or pmingliu and edit from registry. You should check your system folder for the system font too. English ROM version is using nina.ttf and ninaab.ttf, for my PPC it uses Tahoma.ttf and Tahomaab.ttf. You can find out your system font in registry folder call GDI, it should be a string name nm="whatever font". Read more on the Chinese Font posted on Modaco, I really not sure will this help, so good luck! PS. Can you post some MPx220 screen shot, oh can you send me those java games that came with your motorola, where you can dl. Since I m not using a HK provider, I can't dl those free games. I m really sad, coz I have to risk no warranty to purchase MPx220 from the State, and it doesn't come with those great packages in HK. Edited February 23, 2005 by hunmin
Guest cclboss Posted February 24, 2005 Report Posted February 24, 2005 The nm value is also Nina but it is definitely a different Nina as it looks completely different from an English ROM phone. I'll try to post some screen shots later.
