Guest rct_uk Posted February 14, 2005 Report Posted February 14, 2005 Microsoft and Flextronics (a major OEM) have announced their collaboration to produce phones based on the Windows Mobile platform. The two companies said they had jointly developed a new phone platform called Peabody--a blueprint that cell providers can customize--that would cut production costs. Peabody runs on GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications) networks--the world's most widespread wireless standard--and GPRS (General Packet Radio Service), the data delivery arm of GSM networks. Guest tudor Posted February 14, 2005 Report Posted February 14, 2005 According to Guardian: Peabody, a slimmed down version of Microsoft's existing handset, the SPV, has the latest Windows software, Bluetooth and a camera installed. I wonder what would mike_freegan say of a "slimmed down version" of a smartphone "made for idiots who don't know better" [sic]
Guest morpheus2702 Posted February 15, 2005 Report Posted February 15, 2005 I wonder if this is from the same source that said MS and Samsung were getting together a couple of years back to bring PPC to the masses?
