Reading a review of the i-mate jam in PDA Essentials magazine said that there is a second battery "included in the box".

I have not seen any mention of this on the scancon website - maybe t-mobile have not been so generous??

did anyone get a second battery with theirs??

I have this review too, but I also did not get a spare battery with mine. I think its just an error on the part of PDA Essentials?

I doubt they'd mistake a spare battery.

Well maybe their review version of the Jam DID have a spare battery, but certainly it would seem all the commercially available versions dont have one included; therefore a mistake on the part of PDA Essentials.

I'm guessing the review was on what they received...so maybee not an error as they "say what they see".

Nope, i didn't get a spare battery.

I did however get a spare stylus, which was nice!

Could they be refering to the mian battery as a second battery, as the emergency battery is pre-installed?

Funnily enough, ZDNet say that i-mate told them a second battery was included - and a cradle. See the first few review comments at:-

What's more, the inner carton in the Jam packaging has mouldings for the missing cradle and battery. So it looks like it's HTC (the manufacturer) we have to blame.

A poster to the ZDNet site said" They aren't cheap either - a cradle and same capacity battery for the XDA (from the same manufacturer) would set you back another £80. "

Where can you get a cradle from - I'd still be interested- The XDA Mini isn't launched inthe UK, so no cradle optipn I can see.

I presume that was the basis for his criticism - the value markings of the review assumed £80 worth of accessories (based on i-mates prices for the rest of it's range) were included as part of the package. ZDNet say they were told this in writing by i-mate. In fact it turned out to be a big lie - not an unusual practice from hardware vendors.

If there was one for the Jam, MDA Compact, S100, XDA Mini or Dopod 818 you'd be able to use it as they're all the same hardware. But you can't, because there isn't - yet.

Somehow I doubt if there ever will be - the SP3 is still without and that's been out for ages. Maybe HTC decided tooling up for a cradle wasn't worth the investment. They're probably already working on the next model which will no doubt be a different shape.

The fact that the Jam carton is moulded to accomodate a 2nd battery and cradle suggests they were pulled at the last minute, typical hallmarks of an accountant's pen. Still, it would be nice to be wrong...
