Pricing has been in the O2 catalogue for last 3 months if they stick to it, £49.99 for o2 100 and above, 99.99 for contracts below that, Sim free I think was 339.99 or thereabouts.

Anyway - about bloody time - let's hope the ROM issues have been sorted! I look forward to hearing of people's UK experiences with this phone, I really like the look of it but like to hear some comments from the ever-helpful early adopters out there! 8)

Anyone know if it has actually been released today (either on O2 or Voda?)

It's a shame, been around for so long and still no UK launch. Gotta wonder if it's fundamentally flawed. To be honest, I think it even *looks* out of date now. I don't think I'll be giving Motorola any of my money for this one, I'll wait for the next one.

Spoke to three separate O2 retail stores and was told that it would be around four to six weeks more before they'll have them in. O2 direct sales in Manchester said they don't have the handset on their systems and I'd have to go through a store when they get them.

I'm guessing that O2 have requested all their MPX 220's be upgraded to the latest firmware before they'll take stock of them from Motorola, so I guess it's just a case of playing the waiting game till then...

I find it so bizarre that the MPX220 has been coming soon for so long! And I'm not talking about O2 listing it and then not releasing it for ages. I'm talking about when the MPX200 was struggling against the better featured SPV E200 and people were saying wait for the MPX220, it'll be the ultimate Smartphone.

I don't understand how both the MPX220 and the MPX (once known as MPX300) could be such disastrous products when their announcements caused such excitment! Guess Motorola's allegedly ditching Chi Mei could be a direct reaction to whatever problems (design?!) caused this...

Superb isn't it? A poster gets a response from O2 sales office saying it will be released yesterday when clearly it isn't. I've been told end of the month by my O2 store. Isn't it amazing how much bullsh*t comes out of phone manufacturers and networks. If I fed this much rubbish to my business contacts I'd be out of a job in weeks yet it seems that this is endemic to the mobile phone business.

Quite: just for fun, I rang around a few more stores today - three different responses:

1. "Don't have it in, don't know when we're getting it"

2. "Don't have it in but we've been told around four more weeks"

3. "Oh, we've been having a lot of trouble with that handset in testing and we've been told we won't be selling it, it's been pulled..."

I'm not sure what to believe now; I'm guessing this handset will never see the light of day here and it's a pity, because I truly believe there's a good market for clamshell form-factor SmartPhones.

Absolutely! There HAS to be a market for clamshells - why won't anyone else make one? I think I'm going to have to give myself a date to stop waiting for it, and if it's not out then I'll go and look at other smartphones. Currently the C500 from Scancom with free co-pilot sat nav would do the job.

I've been with my current contract for 22 months now and I need a new gadget, I didn't change after 12 months because I was waiting for an MPX200 replacement!!

Hi KaZoN, have you spoken to the Manchester sales dept to ask them why the phone hasn't appeared as they suggested?

Went into an O2 shop this morning, the sales guy knew about the phone but didn't know when they would have it. It wasn't listed on the computer system, though he's sure it had been listed under future products. One interesting thing though it was listed on their till system!!!

Rung up my local 02 shop, and was told that they should be getting it in on the 2nd/3rd of March.

Assuming they are correct I now have to decide if this is worth waiting for or not...

I bought the MPx220 from Expansys a couple of weeks ago and I can tell you it rocks! I much prefer the form factor and usability of the directional keys over my SPV C500. I nearly bought the MPx200 when it first came out, but then heard about the MPx220 and waited over a year for it - well worth the wait!

Soooo, anyone heard anything on this phone on UK networks - we've passed dates for O2 and Vodafone Business, has anyone heard any more whispers? Surely there must be a Uk network employee on here who knows something 8)

All I know is that my local O2 shop staff have been on training session for the phone but that was a month ago
