The case of the disappearing wav files

I've had a trawl through the archive but can't find a thread along the lines of the problem I've got here. I find that if I stick a wav file in the windows directory I can then use it as a ring tone/SMS or EMAIL alert tone but if I restart the OS they magically disappear. I've tried things like changing file attributes to read only to no avail. Is this a known bug? Is there a workaround? Where can I find the list of bugfixes we'll be getting in the alleged Mickeysoft patch anyway, I'm finding things like the SMS 'internationalised number format' bug rather irritating.

Stick you wav files here. Else they will disappear on every reboot. It's not a bug.
