Guest stretchie Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 Hi I would like to get to grips with the kind of things you are doing here. I have had a a C500 for a couple of months now and love it, but that is not enough, I want more, I want to be able to create my own apps and learn how to look at the ROMS and understand what they mean and how to change them to my own specifications so that I may improve my phone and share any good findings with like minded people on this site. Please can anyone point me in the right direction or at least suggest a path I could follow. i.e. Should I start by learning how to create home screens using XML and once this is more or less handled what should I try next? I have seen tools on other websites that people use to look at/tweak the registry files. Should I be scared of experimenting with them for fear of killing my phone or if I had a go at this and made a complete hash of it could I simply reload my default ROM (Orange 4.1.1.4) and start again? What tips can anyone give a complete starter with a desire to learn and ideas to experiment with? Thank you in advance Dan
Guest xenophobe Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 Learn a programming language... Visual Basic, Visual C, or something. Learning XML wouldn't hurt, but it's functionality for Smartphone is a bit limited. There are plenty of good books out there. I'd suggest buying one from Que. I've always liked their thourogh explanations and examples.
