I have asked this question a couple of times in the Opera forums and never got an answer. I take that to mean either they are working on it, or no, you can't do it.

BUMP

Anyone managed to change their default browser?

I'm trying Thunderhawk out, but without this it's not going to be a winner.

I would bet it's nothing more than some registry changes....default handler for file types and so on. How far into the registry it's tentacles reach, however, and how far another browser's would also have to reach I don't know. Plus there's the problem of how the browser handles files that it can't render itself. For example, I dropped Opera after a while because when I clicked on a streaming media file, it would just sit there and look stupid instead of launching WMP. It should be a simple registry association lookup to figure that out but Opera doesn't do it yet. It's probably not worth hacking into at this point with the latest build quickly running out of time (end of March). If the next build (final?) doesn't insert itself into the registry correctly or do proper file type lookups, then someone will probably get fed up and come up with an xml hack.

thanks for that markgambler

I found some info on MSDN, but it relates to WinCE .NET 4.2 (there is the same info for other CE versions, but not for Windows Mobile)

Just in case this MS page disappears:
