Guest Disco Stu Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 I would go here for your essential Today screen tools : http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/?en Then I would go to PDAGold.com and get yourself some lovely themes. If you get Virtual Pool Mobile don't expect to be bothering with much else for a while

Guest stu_lowe2003 Posted February 17, 2005 Report Posted February 17, 2005 Hi Been setting mine up for a few days now and I think I am about happy with the software i have now. I have installed: On the serious side of things: Pocket Informant Pro 5.6 (Fantastic replacement for the standard calneder/tasks/contacts/etc..) Spb Pocket Plus (Very very useful today plugins and real close app feature) Betaplayer (For some movie play back) D9 (To replace the standard dialer - though I think I may go back to the original) Full Screen Keyboard (Kinda does what it says) PhatNotes (more advanced notes replacement) TomTom 3 (For use with bluetooth gps module) Set as ring tone app (Give the option to set any audio file as ringtone by hold tap on it) And on the fun side of things: Antelion (Great 3D sace shoot em up - a bit like wing commander) Bubble blaster (futuristic bust a move) Flux Challenge (Futuristic tunnel racing thingy) Morphgear 2.3.0.2 (Multi system emulator - now have snes/megadrive/nes at full screen, full speed). Microsoft Arcade Pack (Pac-Man!!!!) Snails (great worms like game, superb) Tomb Raider (complete 3D conversion of playstation original) Virtual Pool Mobile (Greatest game I have - 3D pool game) ZioGolf 2 (Pretty good 3D golf game) Then filled the rest of my gig sd card with movies/music and roms. Stu
Guest Perfectionist Posted February 17, 2005 Report Posted February 17, 2005 Thanks for the replies ! Just wondering - there must be more and more newbies buying these wonder gadgets and it would be cool if there was a permanent thread with a table of some sorts which had a selection of the best software to use including their prices. download locations, user reviews etc etc - all kept in one place as a reference for everybody..... ??
Guest Disco Stu Posted February 17, 2005 Report Posted February 17, 2005 My thoughts on this are that such lists become outdated as soon as they're drawn up. Also one man's essential application is another man's junk. Who decides what goes in ? How do we format the thread ? Is Disco Stu gonna say anything worthwhile anytime soon ? What if we started a topic (one for apps, one for games ?) and each post in the thread is for one piece of 'essential' software ? No posts just for comments, just post a brief description of the software and what it does. What does everyone else think ?
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted February 17, 2005 Report Posted February 17, 2005 Well on the thought of "one mans essential is anothers junk", how about a thread with a post each from each person, all others are deleted, with a list of their personal essential apps with links, and a one line comment on why they like it. All other posts are deleted and if anyone wants further info they know who to pm. If it gets ovrely popular and someone is inundated wth PM's they can start a thread on it
Guest Chaser81 Posted February 17, 2005 Report Posted February 17, 2005 I like Monolithix's plan, who wants to start the thread?
Guest SeaneyC Posted February 17, 2005 Report Posted February 17, 2005 Virtual Pool Mobile can be junk in no-one's eyes!
Guest Disco Stu Posted February 17, 2005 Report Posted February 17, 2005 And they're off ! Guys, check out the new thread pinned to the top of this section. Am I right in thinking we want it in this section rather than PPC Main ?
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted February 18, 2005 Report Posted February 18, 2005 Well tbh i think it would be best in PPC Main, as it goes for all PPCPE devices, not just the JAM and its other flavours?
