Guest radiator Posted February 17, 2005 Report Posted February 17, 2005 (edited) Hi all, I'm planning a trip to New York this year and thought it'd be cool to get a GPS receiver and relevant software (no more asking for directions!) The problem is that I don't really want to buy an east-USA map @ full price if I'm only going to use it once... I don't suppose there's any Smartphone compatible GPS software that offer 'map rental'? Guest mcwarre Posted February 17, 2005 Report Posted February 17, 2005 How about downloading a trial version for the time you are there????
Guest radiator Posted February 17, 2005 Report Posted February 17, 2005 How about downloading a trial version for the time you are there???? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I can't remember which GPS kit I looked at (and it was a while ago too), but the actual software could be downloaded FOC, but you had to pay to download a map... I'll have a look into getting hold of a free version. There's always piracy, but I'm not that kind of person and don't really want to go down that road!
Guest Jasonkruys Posted February 23, 2005 Report Posted February 23, 2005 Sounds like it might be mappopolis..... You can download demo maps that last for a number of days (cant remember how long)
