Guest shack77 Posted February 17, 2005 Report Posted February 17, 2005 Had the c500 for a week, previously had e200. My god, what a phone. It's now my car stereo - Ipod are just launching them! And a passenger can watch dvd's on a long journey! Either an amp in your car, or straight into your cd player. Or into your stereo at home. Or your surround sound system. Or anything with a phono lead. A 2.5mm jack can be wired onto loads of stuff. Am I ranting? I love Maplin Electronics!! I'm in there 24/7 making my phone power more things!! One quick question though - can I get the c500 to power an sd reader/writer? I can connect it up using cables, but I can't get the phone to power it. Would make sense to have extra storage space WITHOUT taking the stuffing back off. Will phone HTC tomorrow and ask them. Helpful chaps! Keep smilin' Shack77
Guest shack77 Posted February 17, 2005 Report Posted February 17, 2005 And while I'm at it - great review, learnt a lot my manual didn't teach me - and why oh why do my cookies build up so? Forever using the file manager to delete stuff so I can preview pictures!
Guest shack77 Posted February 17, 2005 Report Posted February 17, 2005 HTC say that I'll have to change the registry. As far as I'm aware, I think that's a job for a programmer - not a part time sparky. Anyone seen anything on this subject anywhere?

Can I buy a jack and put in my stereo?? What kind og a jack and where can I buy it. Is it possible to use a different headset than the standart for mp3 as well? Shack77 <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Guest shack77 Posted February 17, 2005 Report Posted February 17, 2005 <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Er, a stereo headphone jack (be careful, they come in mono as well), like the one on the handsfree set, is available from Maplin Electronics. You then buy a bit of cable, solder it on and attatch a phono plug to each of the wires at the other end. Hey presto, it *should* now fit in the back of your car stereo. Or normal stereo, depending on what kind of input plugs it has. Let me know, I'm off to Maplin (again) in a bit so I'll see if they do them. The Shack

Keep smilin' Shack77 <{POST_SNAPBACK}> hehe i've done the same thing.... i'm guess you have an aftermarket stereo.... i do atleast... and pretty much any decent aftermarket headunit is going to have a 'line-in' or an 'aux in' which(once you buy a 2.5 to 3.5mm adapter) you can just plug it in directly.... also there are a lot of companies who make adapters for oem headunits that will let you use a 'line in' .. i'm just working on making a nice mount to put my phone in the middle of my dash so i can have a cheapo dvd player .... i have a VERY nice stereo which i'm hoping compensates for the 2.5" screen hehe coem to think of this i should just make a mount and put it viewable from the back seat..... :( i bet the gf would appreciate that

Nice phone holder from Halfords does the job for the front two seats to watch DVD's... I have no back seats in my car, so no worries there!! Just gotta tidy up the wires. I'll post a pic when I get back from work. The Shack
