Guest Gavink151 Posted February 18, 2005 Report Posted February 18, 2005 Hi, Well the spv m2000 manual helpfully tells you that SD cards can be used to expand your memory - but then I read somewhere else that you can get a couple of types (single sided and dual sided I think), however the manual does not specify which to use! I am going to get a 1Gb card but not sure which is the correct type.... anyone claify? thanks!!
Guest martinwcooper Posted February 18, 2005 Report Posted February 18, 2005 (edited) Do you mean Multi-level cell (MLC) SD cards? I've got a 256mb MLC card in my blue angel just now and it works no problems. The brand is "Integral". Edited February 18, 2005 by martinwcooper
Guest fraser Posted February 19, 2005 Report Posted February 19, 2005 I googled it, I think it's just the underlying technology of the flash rom. The SD format is supposed to remove the need for the device to understand how the card works, so it should been the same. Might have different write/read speeds though. Theoretically you could make a hard-drive sd card, and it would work in current devices. If you can make an HD that small that is!
Guest Lingerhosen Posted February 19, 2005 Report Posted February 19, 2005 This was a big issue with the E200 as it wouldn't read MLC cards, which meant tracking down SLC cards, which was tricky because the companies that made them seemed to sell both side-by-side with no explanation. This meant you had to purchase a (more expensive) high speed card to guarantee it would work as these are all SLC, (it is a faster storage system). Or of course, take a punt and hope for the best! Happily, there seem to have been no recent threads about malfunctioning cards. This leads me to believe that HTC finally caught up with the rest of the world and has fashioned their devices so that the new ones no longer care. About bloody time too!
