Guest Chris Gearing Posted February 19, 2005 Report Posted February 19, 2005 Hi, I have a c500 that is connecting to an IMAP server and reading all the mail. I've tried download headers only, 500 bytes, 1000 bytes etc etc. In all cases I never see a message body, just an icon marked "Mark for download (xxK)". How do I get the body? I can click on the "Mark for download" and leave it in any state, open evenlope, closed envelope, with arrow, without arrow etc. I can also select option 7 in the menu and leave it as "Mark for download" or "Do not download". Whatever I do the body never seems to appear, I can "send/receive" as much as I like but no message bodys. The mail I've opened does get marked as read on the server so other than not seeing the body it works fine. Any help apprecieted. Chris
Guest Confucious Posted February 19, 2005 Report Posted February 19, 2005 I don't use IMAP but with POP3 when you "Mark for download" it connects and gets the whole message, I assume it should be the same for IMAP. Maybe someone who does use IMAP know's why yours isn't working.
Guest ThatTree Posted February 20, 2005 Report Posted February 20, 2005 After clicking "Mark for Download", try immediately doing a Send/Receive. It's slow but works for me.

(I think this setting is quite misleading as I've got it set to 1000 bytes but it downloads the entire text of < 10K mails). Is it possible that the messages are in a format that the native email client can't read? Messages that my webmail client states contain "web bugs" (HTML) are never displayed on the phone, though I think I can download them. The default mail client is a bit ropey imo - delete a message from phone, but make sure it's still on IMAP server, then mark message as unread on server using another client - mail client will not download message until it has been quit and restarted or 'til phone is reset. I don't know any of the technicalities of IMAP4, but this seems wrong to me.
