Guest Phil Lee Posted February 19, 2005 Report Posted February 19, 2005 (edited) I've had VPM for 2 weeks now and have spotted a couple of bugs with it. They are: 1. The volume isn't saved between games. It always defaults to 10 when you load up a game. 2. Last night the 6 ball somehow managed to pass through the cushion and out into the pool hall. It stayed hanging in mid air until the AI player had to try for the 6. He aimed for it and missed. It was his third foul in a row so he lost. 3. The AI, even on "Good Luck" setting are hopeless at breaks. They always seem to miss the 1 ball. 4. The AI are also hopeless when it comes to snookers. They just seem to blast the ball straight at the one they are supposed to be hitting, even though there are other balls in between. That's it for the time being. I've sent this list to Celeris along with a link to this thread in the hope that these minor issues can be fixed. Edited February 19, 2005 by Phil Lee

This is intentional and the lessor of all evils. 2) We haven't seen that in years, but it is possible. Remember, phones don't have floating point processors... so the physics is sometimes less than perfect in fixed point. 3) I haven't really noticed that, it could be a problem with the table sizes which were changed for the phone version. Quite frankly... I don't see the AI player break very much... if you know what I mean. 4) Unfortunately, another problem caused by the lack of a floating point processor. We simply can't do the physics required for accurate kicks. We will be looking into #3, but I am afraid #2 and #4 are pretty much limitations of the phone's processor. And yes... we will be doing updates as needed, so feel free to email us with your request/suggestions/bugs. Cheers, jb Edited February 21, 2005 by vpmobile
Guest Stomski Posted February 21, 2005 Report Posted February 21, 2005 VPMobile, have you been reading the original release thread? I've been posting the bugs I've found in there. Thanks.
Guest Phil Lee Posted February 21, 2005 Report Posted February 21, 2005 Thanks for the feedback. I understand that there are processor limitations on the phone so I can live with #2 and #4. It's good to see you'll look at #3. As for #1, this is actually the most annoying of the problems for me but at least I know how it works now.

Thanks. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I haven't in a while, please PM me with the problems you see. I've been playing a straight pool career and I have noticed a problem with the AI getting a scratch once in awhile when it didn't actually scratch. It may have made another foul, but I am not sure. Please be assured that we will fix any bugs that are found. VPMobile is a game that is meant to be played and played a lot... strange little issues that effect game play have no place in such a game.

Here is the background for the problem. According to MS, we are not allowed to change the system volume. We can't (because of performance issues) change the volume of the sound effects that we put out. We are allowed to present a method (the settings menu) for the user to change the volume. All that said... it seems that the game is running much faster on the majority of the phones than it does on the ones we developed with... soooo... we *might* add an internal volume control. This would give you two settings, System Volume and sound effects volume. This will, of course, confuse even more people, but possibly be the lessor of all evils. Another possiblity would be to add a checkbox in settings that say 'Rember Volume' or something of that nature.
Guest muff Posted February 22, 2005 Report Posted February 22, 2005 just curious as to how bugs 2 + 4 are processor faults?
Guest simonbratt99 Posted March 1, 2005 Report Posted March 1, 2005 hi, right played VPM to death while skiing last week (on the smartphone corse) very good too..... Requests 1. Can we see which pocket the AI picks for the black ball? would be nice to know what hes aiming for 2. Still the yellow / red ball request 3. would be nice to know either how many balls are left for stipes and dots. So when i have a mega break and 5 balls go down, i dont have to work out weather i got more stripes or more dots, crazy??? 4. can we have a replay slow mo option? like the PC? 5. Any chance the cushions and balls can have cue detection, so as to make getting the white on the cush worth while? 6. can we have a softer shot option, as the minimum power is too hard sometimes? bloody great game though......well done Simon
Guest Skeese Posted March 14, 2005 Report Posted March 14, 2005 crashes the mio 8390 so bad when clicked on to open starts loading then freezes. have to remove battery to get the phone working again.
Guest drblow Posted March 15, 2005 Report Posted March 15, 2005 I just encountered a bug last night. I have had a career going in easy mode, and every time I beat a room boss, the game quits and takes me back to the homescreen. It opens up fine after that, and remembers my current total etc. But I then created a career under a new name at hard level, and every time I try to enter the game under that name it quits back to the homescreen.
Guest fozzie Posted March 15, 2005 Report Posted March 15, 2005 I'd echo the requests for 1, 3 & 5 (perhaps only for the AI though :D) Great game - only 2 bosses left to beat! Requests 1.
