Hi... would just like to know peoples opinions on these two phones? I'm thinking of getting one of them but not sure on which one to get.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Paul

do you need a camera on the phone?

do you prefer clamshells?

the carphonewarehouse mpx200 is unlocked, so it's price is £80 sim free.

cheapest I've seen the c500 is £140, then unlocking costs £20, so you are talking £160 in total.

do you need bluetooth?

there's a lot of smartphone2002 apps that dont want to run on windowsmobile 2003.

No not really bothered about a camera on the phone, I can't remember the last time I took a picture on my K700i!! The bluetooth function is useful sometimes but not essential.

I just want a bog standard phone now and when I saw the Mpx200 for £90 at CarPhone Warehouse it looked like a bargain seeing as it has the windows platform, can play Mp3, etc... So I thought that would be cool?

Does the Mpx200 play video files too?? Whats the maximum storage capacity on the SD slot? I've read 128mb?

I must admit also that the 'flip' style of phone is winning me back over, and with the MPx200 being so cheap and with the power it has I thought it would be a great buy?

I owned the mpx200 for a year on contract to orange uk. I loved the phone, but the battery power was its weakness. I got a 256 mb card and it was fine, after 11 months of having the phone i thought Id buy the wee sd camera for the phone. it was pretty cool, but was majorly inconvenient, because u had to take out the sd card to use it, therefore limiting you to the storage space on the actual handset for your photos, defeating the purpose of the 256 card.

My battery eventually stopped charging just 25 days out of the warranty

I got a free upgrade to the c500 and am finding it great. Only thing i dont like about it is the lack of keypad lights. I post this problem here http://www.modaco.com/index.php?showtopic=...&st=0&p=551883&

Ive ordered a replacement battery for my mpx and if it charges in the phone, then i will sell it and all the accessories.

I like the c500 better, mostly cos of the extra storage memory, and camera, and bluetooth.

I bought the mpx200 from cpw for £80 and took out the 3 years "repair or replace" insurance for £20 at the same time.

I'm getting 3-4 days usage out of the generic rom image, using a 512mb mmc.

The C500 has replaced my MPX200 as my phone of choice.

While I still like the MPX200 it cannot be compaired to the C500.

c500 completely wastes mpx200. had a 200 for 3 months and hated it, crashed frequently, locked up all the time, poor batter, sloooow. C500 has been faultless so far and im loving it.

That's unusual for it to crash as the MPX200 is one of the most stable Smartphones around, unless you had 2003 on it as that's another story.

@ hunyango_uk

The MPX220 is still not available in the UK at the moment unless it's a typo?

otherwise the MPX200 with the 2002 OS is an ideal first Smartphone and gets my vote. The only reason I switched to the C500 was that I needed BT from testing TomTom.
