Guest josh85 Posted February 19, 2005 Report Posted February 19, 2005 (edited) Okay, so I've decided that instead of asking how to make your 1.8/1.9 MPX-200 a "triband" I think it important to make a topic that lists where your AT&T phone works (without tricks), what network, and any other important info. So: to get started. I'm a US College student studying in Central Europe with a Czech phone operator using MY AT&T phone with a WM2003 image with radio stack update so: Czech Republic (Tested throughout the country): Oskar Mobile (900/1800mhz) Eurotel Praha (900/1800mhz) T-mobile (900/1800mhz) Reception in smaller towns is a little spotty, towers only support 900 in some more rural areas. Prague, Brno, Ostrava, Olomouc, and any other larger city has perfect coverage. Poland (Tested in Krakow and all points South): Era (900/1800mhz) Idea (900/1800mhz) PlusGSM (900/1800mhz) All the Polish carriers send an SMS every 30 minutes or so to my phone telling me what tower I'm using or what city I'm in. It is VERY annoying, but with my Oskar SIM card I'm able to use all networks just fine. Slovakia (Tested in the Country and Bratislava): Eurotel-SK (900/1800mhz)* -Very limited function. There's barely any coverage in Slovakia, because the MPX200 is clearly 1800Mhz, Eurotel will disconnect the phone from the network on occasion. You are able to make calls and send SMS messages, but be aware it will take upwards of 10 minutes for your phone to find the Eurotel network and stay on it. The only other network in Slovakia is Orange which the MPX 200 cannot see or get on. Once again, the phone is clearly NOT triband. Austria (Tested at the Czech/Austrian Border in Breclav along with Vienna): Tele.ring (1800mhz) One (1800mhz) A1-Vodaphone (900/1800mhz) Germany (Tested in Bamberg and various towns in Bavaria) E-Plus (1800mhz) T-Mobile (900/1800mhz) O2 (1800mhz) Switzerland (Tested at Zurich Airport) Orange CH (1800mhz) Swisscom (900/1800mhz) Edited May 24, 2005 by josh85
Guest josh85 Posted May 24, 2005 Report Posted May 24, 2005 I just got back from Europe. I hope that this was at least somewhat helpful to people. All in all, this thread PROVES that the AT&T MPX-200 is NOT triband and no amount of flashing or tricks will get it to open up the 900mhz band. My phone only worked in areas with at least 1800 and 900 coverage. If you're traveling to Europe and want to know if your MPX200 is going to work, this should give you a good idea where.
